Default DIY- Parking Lamp Delete w/ working blinkers(pics & clip)

I thought I might share a quick mod and document it for those who might be searching.

This is a quick and painless mod to delete those unsightly amber turn signal's, and allow for the crisp halo's and HID to bling! You still have the blinker's and Hazards functionable and working.

I realize you can do the elec. tape mod on the bulb or get into fuse box to acheive this look. IMO, this is sooo much easier and safer.

Est time: 10-15 min.
Tools: 1. Small flathead 2. Electrical tape 3. Zip-tie optional

The wire you are disconnecting is the hot wire(gry/ylw-pass side & gry/violet-driver side) for both sides. This is the same wire that you spliced your AE's into which allow them constant power with the running lamp assembly. Also FYI...I already had my AE's splice into hot wire, do not eliminate this connection or your AE's will not have power.

Other than that, pretty simple and effective outcome! Enjoy and best of luck!

Isn't that potentially illegal?

Check with your state laws, regarding parking lamps. In california, there is no difinitive law prohibiting this, that I could find.

As long as they function when making a turn or parked on the highway(hzd's) flashing an "amber or white" color in the front, it's legal.

As far as Running lights are concerned, isnt that the function of the AE?

My AE's are from Umnitza/ OrionV2, led. The temp is 6000 or maybe its 6500, i cant remember. IMO this color is perfect, if you desire the AE look.

Any idea what size connector could plug into the parking light receptacle? I want to wire up my city lights to that and figured a bullet connector would be the easiest way.

Thanks for the write up though I didn't realize it was that easy.

On this side of the Atlantic, starting with a U.S. car and not doing this mod would be illegal. I believe the thinking is that it doesn't take as long to recognize someone's intentions when the turn signals (and brake lights) each show their own and unique color.

I took the car in for its bi-annual inspection last week. The first inspector said he would have to fail the car because the ignition key freewheeled when he turned it backwards.

eh. to be honest a lot of ppl don't really care if its illegal or not. many don't even know the difference because its a "BMW" car and would thing its factory...
cops bother more often if your exhaust sounds too loud and if your speeding all the time trying to race ppl on the streets. IMO they look for ppl with lots of CF parts and bug them. I haven't had any police officer harrass me about the light mods and such.
anyway, it looks good. i like your angel eyes. might be my next ones when the ones i have burn out.

I'm fully aware of that. The main reason I pointed it out is so that people will at least consider the potential consequences and make an informed decision.

Whoa, I didnt know this thread would cause such controversy. Again, roadrash is right, please check with your state laws and if you choose to break them, it's your decision!

Just thought I might be of some type of help to people looking for answers I didnt find initially. In cali, I checked with DMV online, there is no law stating this is illegal, the law only state's the color of blinker and when you must use them. As far as running lights, Im convinced the AE serve this purpose. I mean look at the new Audi's-crazy ass led strips? What cop is gonna contest this? The blinkers and hazo's work.......

If a copper does decide to mess with you, reiterate its a BMW and he will let you go, after he gives you a ticket for your exhaust, which is also illegal due to sound. We alllll have em.

If it matters at all, two forward amber side marker lamps have been a U.S. Federal requirement since 1972. See Sec. 571.108 Standard No. 108; Lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment., table III under 'side marker'.
