I would really like to try to sell my car soon. I am starting a new thread because I have updated my price and information. I am selling my Black 1998 318ti. The car currently has 40,400 miles. 1.9L engine, 5 speed manual transmission, AM/FM casette/ prewired for CD changer, Power sun roof, power windows, power locks with factory alarm and remote entry, Driver and passanger side air bags, side impact airbags located in the doors, On board fuel milage computer, black heated leather seats, Traction control, K40 remote install radar detector ($800 radar detector). All oil changes have been with mobil 1 full synthetic oil, spark plugs, fuel filter, and Idle speed control motor replaced at 36,000 miles. This car is in great condition and runs great. I average 38MPG on the highway with premium fuel. I am the second owner and have the original window sticker, owners manuals, and related information. I have researched the market on this car through Auto Trader, NADA guides, and have set my price at $10,800 a little lower than what I was previously asking. Please don't tell me what the Kelly blue book prices are because they have been found to be very inaccurate. If you have any questions on the cars value I encourage you to look on autotrader.com and look at the 318ti market for 97-99 318ti's with under 60,000 miles. If you are interested or have any other questions Please feel free to contact me at black98zq8@yahoo.com. I have a few pictures located in the gallery on this site. | | | 10-13-2004, 05:24 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Indiana Posts: 256 | Ok I just looked up the market values from 4 different sites and came up with the folowing. Edmunds.com Trade In $9,400 Private Party $10,596 Dealer Retail $12,096 Nadaguides.com Trade In $9,525 Retail $11,650 Vmrintl.com Wholesale $9,625 Retail $11,750 And finally KBB.com Trade In $7,350 Private Party $9,300 Retail $11,325 | | | 10-13-2004, 10:19 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Decatur IL USA Posts: 105 | You're right, the price guides are innacurate I haven't had difficulty buying any of the past three BMW's I have owned at @ 20% below Kelly Blue Book. My '95 clubsport booked at 9000 (private party) when I bought it for 7000 in Chicago. The guy was asking 8500, and had been asking at that price for at least six months. My 97 328i (sport, 5-speed, OBC, CD changer, heated seats and HK stereo) booked for 13,000 private party late last year when I bought it in Arlington VA for 10,500. He had listed it that January. I could have gotten a better deal if I had time to look around, but I needed another car THAT WEEK to replace my wife's car. The 91 325ix I recently bought is a nice example, but similar to ones you can find on Autotrader listed for between 5500 and 7500 on any given day. I paid $2500 curb-side in St.Louis MO. The guy had just parked it that day, and was cleaning his junk out of the trunk when I pulled up. That's just the way it goes. In order to sell a car, you actually have to want to SELL YOUR CAR. Now it's October, and fewer people will be shopping between now and mid-April. If you do decide to sell it, 7500 is probably a good place to start. I'd even drive out and look at it for 6000. | | | 10-13-2004, 06:31 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Indiana Posts: 256 | Quote: Originally Posted by Travis I haven't had difficulty buying any of the past three BMW's I have owned at @ 20% below Kelly Blue Book. I can get more than that from my local dealer in a trade if that tells you anything. | | | 10-13-2004, 07:58 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Tucson, AZ Posts: 290 | If I had the cash, I would consider 10k for that ti. It has nice options, good condition, and VERY low miles. Check this out http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6007 That particular one went up to 7500 bucks, is 2 years older, and has many more miles. The color isn't as nice and it is a base model. 6 grand would be a steal for tiperformance's car, 8 grand would be a deal, and 10 grand would be appropriate IMO. And I know you cant base everything off of an ebay listing, but you can see what alot of people are willing to pay. Don't give in too soon on the price ti...See what happens and then decide. __________________ Vince Carknard 1995 318ti Active Hellrot, 16" 5 spoke, "Fogged" airbox mod, Stromung exhaust, Bilstein Sports, BMW sport springs, 3.73lsd, others... | | | 10-14-2004, 03:12 AM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: SF Posts: 5 | Where? His has much less than half the miles and IMO that alone is well worth an extra 2k dollars. __________________ Vince Carknard 1995 318ti Active Hellrot, 16" 5 spoke, "Fogged" airbox mod, Stromung exhaust, Bilstein Sports, BMW sport springs, 3.73lsd, others... | | | 10-16-2004, 08:33 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Indiana Posts: 256 | Thank you Bimmerboi Well I have the active package, cruise, alarm, I use mobil 1 and BMW original parts also. Sounds like U have more than twice as many miles on the car, (more wear), the Cali top and urs is blue. That is why car dealers sell a car with lower milage for more. I am not going to give my car away to someone for $8,000, because it is worth more than that. I might as well keep it and buy a truck or trade it in for $8,000. So you 2 what is a good price for it? | | | 10-16-2004, 08:38 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Indiana Posts: 256 | Quote: Originally Posted by chucky woh, $10200 for this car, is way overpriced, i just post mine for sale, IN CA, om;y $8000, which all the feature for this car, plus it's metalic blue color, california top, active package w/alarm, cruise control, new clutch, new brake and new inspection 2, my milage is 93k, however, it's maintained by mobil 1 synthetic oil and all bmw original parts everytime it service. Milage is 1 thing, another important thing is the year, i am sure a 98 model with 41k miles is no better than a 2001 model, if there is any, with same milage in it. Mine has active package, alarm, leather, cali roof as well, but i am the original owner, which i think ppl will be more trusting than the car is previous traded before you own it, it's garage kept and i don't smoke or track my car. Whoever getting your car for over $10k, i think you are really lucky or someone is really out of luck. If you think waiting for another 2 month or so will add more value to your car. Oh, not to mention to anyone, my milage is real, i have service lot from average 3-6 months, some extremely low milage but older year model, their odometer could be done some 'mickey mouse' and buyer won't even know. So......good luck everyone. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
