There is a sensor on the front left and right rear. When the pads wear down the sensor comes in contact with the rotor and the light then turns on. When you replace the pads, you'll need a new sensor. __________________ | | | 07-15-2009, 03:43 AM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: ny Posts: 12 | cool thanks i was hoping it wasnt my transmission or something crazy, but i changed my pads and rotors i thought thats what the ABS light was for cuz i cant get it to turn off, i didnt know i had to replace the sensors too i guess ill give that a try, but thanks anyways. | | | 07-15-2009, 04:02 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2009 Location: Columbia MD Posts: 215 | Brake pad sensors are sacrificial sensors that will get worn through (destroyed) if/when your pads get too thin. If they get worn through, they simply need to be replaced with the new pads. The ABS light is something entirely different. It means that there is a fault with the equipment that pulses the braking system when used in situations requiring ABS (very aggressive stops). The rest of the braking system will work perfectly fine if there is a problem with ABS- however it means that you do not have the use of the ABS safety feature. Drive carefully. But if you have a brake fluid light, you probably should check your brake fluid level and refill it as necessary. __________________ *Except 318ti '97 318ti M-Sport '95 M3 BMWCCA | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Thread Tools | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
