I purchased it from a fellow BMW enthusiast in Fresno, CA about four years ago. He pulled the engine from his 1994 318 (auto transmission) to swap in an M motor. Long story short I was planning on swapping the engine into a 1973 BMW 2002, but the opportunity popped up for me to purchase back a muscle car that my grandpa purchased new off the dealer lot in 1971, so now I have one too many projects. The engine has 68K mi, came out of an automatic car, the original owner ran Mobil One synthetic in the engine. It is in very nice shape. If you look at the photos you will see that the engine has an E30 M42 front sump oil pan (I no longer have the E36 rear sump pan), it also does not have the AC compressor, and the power steering pump is not mounted. Currently it is set up with a shorter belt to drive the water pump and alternator. It comes with all the airbox, intake, harness, DME, down pipe with catalytic converter, flexplate, E36 dual mass M3 flywheel and pressure plate (flywheel has a bolt broken off in it), starter, coils, wires, bell housing bolts and all other goodies you see in the photos. If you want I also have an E30 5 speed Getrag 240 gearbox that bolts right up to the M42 $330.00 I’m located in Yreka CA (about 20 miles south of the Oregon boarder on I5, a 5-6 hour drive from the Bay Area). I would be willing to meet a firm buyer in Redding CA on a weekend. No shipping! Thanks for looking! Peter Getrag 240 our of M42 powered E30, will consider shipping, boxing fee of $20.00. Will only ship to a buisness address $330.00 | | | 02-16-2007, 05:24 AM | #2 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Yreka, CA Posts: 14 | Make me an offer Guys, I am sick of storing the engine. It is an honest low mileage M42, pulled out of a good car for an M swap. | | | 04-26-2007, 04:34 AM | #14 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Yreka, CA Posts: 14 | Wanted to give some more info on shipping. I can ship the transmission for cheap, but it will be just at or over the 70 pound limit for FedEx Ground home delivery, so it will have to be shipped to a business address. Count on it being about $20 to ship it in California ranging up to about $50 for you Far East coast guys. I can ship it to your workplace, friends shop, wherever as long as it isn’t a residential address. As for the engine and goodies, I think that local pickup would be most practical, but if you want it shipped truck freight I would be willing to crate it and take it to a terminal in Medford Oregon for $50.00. I once shipped an E30 M3 S14 shortblock from California to a fellow in Florida, it was about $400.00, so I doubt shipping it truck freight would be worth it unless you have an insider deal. As M42 stuff goes, both the engine and transmission are low mileage. The engine mileage of 68,XXX was confirmed by me when I picked up the motor from a fellow in Fresno CA. I got to check out the guys M-powered 318, it was incredibly clean. The engine was pulled from the car in late 2002 and I purchased it in early 2003, it has been in dry inside storage ever since. The transmission has 8X,XXX miles on it. This has not been confirmed, I purchased it from a guy in San Francisco California, who had bought it from a guy parting out an E30 M42 powered 318on eBay. It is clean, and should function well. The guy who’s car the engine came out of had a garage that was meticulous, he was an engineering student at CSU Fresno, was wealthy and seemed to take incredible care of everything he owned. This IS NOT some clapped out engine out of some Primered body kit E36-Honda-civic-wannabe-rice-boy-200,000-mile-clapped-out-fake K&N filter-smoking-wrecked into a utility pole engine. This is a nice engine, and should easily provide 100,000 miles of service, comes with everything you need, hell you could convert your earlier E30 M42 powered car to the later, with more horsepower… and if you have money, bolt on a Downing Atlanta supercharger and keep up with the M3’s Anyway, the engine could be yours for 1K, no less. Thanks for looking, Peter | | | 04-26-2007, 07:19 AM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | seriously man, u need to LOWER your price. If you havent noticed, no one has replied at all. NO ONE is going to pay that much for the engine. I dont see why your so anal for wanting exactly a G. Im not saying this to crap your thread but help you sell your engine. What do you want, a sitting around engine, or about 700 bucks in your pocket? | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
