Default cam shaft sensor

having problems i have ordered a new one only to find out its about 5ml longer the the original fitted on the car so when i place it in side the hole its sitting proud ,plus the connector is different. im having real problems sourcing a correct sensor, now as i see it the cam shaft sensor is a magnetic rod in a plastic casing, so my query is if i cut this sensor down to size, ie cut 5ml of the end and use my origianl plug will it work ?

It sounds like you may have received the wrong sensor- meaning the wrong engine was used to order it. Just a guess as I have never done one on a four cylinder...

Hopefully one of the four cylinder guys can help you out.

I would think you cannot just modify the sensor to make it fit, as the DME is looking for a specific signal that may be different from this different sensor...

PS I am deleting your redundant post.
