Seriously though, there are too many threads on here to look at and still ask for input vs your own want. If you want other's opinions, you should list the year of your car as well as what you want the outcome to be. For 800$, if thats all you have for the swap, you may want to rethink your budget because thatll leave you with a simple 2.5L engine swap and VERY minimal, yet mandatory, upgrades to your chassis. I can honestly say, you can do the 2.5L with a single exhaust as a drop in project for under 800, but if you want more, your budget definately needs to be reevaluated. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 06-16-2009, 03:45 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: Seattle Posts: 181 | where can you even get a 2.5L swap for anywhere near $800? for just the block maybe, but you need way more than just a block to undertake a swap from the swap threads i've read. | | | 06-16-2009, 03:49 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | I'd think you could get a whole car for $800 if it's real smashed up | | | 06-16-2009, 03:53 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: Seattle Posts: 181 | where do you find whole smashed up cars definitely not ebay, and the local euro salvage yards aren't cheap, they wanted $950 for just the block, no accessories attached either... wtf | | | 06-16-2009, 04:05 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | keep checking craigslist, people sometimes have them sitting in their yard and just want to get rid of them | | | 06-16-2009, 04:36 AM | #7 | Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Fairfield, CA Posts: 93 | I bought my totaled M3 on eBay for a couple grand. I found a smashed up 325i on craigslist for $500 just recently. They are out there if you keep looking. You can also find part outs on CL where they will sell the motor for a few hundred. | | | 06-16-2009, 04:37 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Why do you expect to pay so much for this crap? I have both of my tis parts lists in my threads, nothing is ever expensive. My m50 was 300$ and included everyting i needed. I can go to the junkyard right now and handpick my own m50s for less than 500 with everything included. Come on guys, get off the "hand it to me train" and look for this stuff. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 06-17-2009, 05:15 AM | #9 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2009 Location: west palm beach Posts: 10 | thanx... well i just found the same engine my car had for $600 ... the 2.0 L if im not wrong ..and i just found an m30 engine from a 1991 735 iL .. what do you guys think?? i found both on craigs list | | | 06-17-2009, 05:19 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | M30's going to be one difficult swap, I'd get an engine out of a 325 if you want to upgrade to a 6 also these cars came with a 1.8 in 95 and a 1.9 in 96-99 | | | 06-18-2009, 02:14 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Dont downgrade, upgrade. The m30 is not a suitable engine, not to mention, it wont fit due to the oil pan and such. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 06-21-2009, 09:04 PM | #12 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: oklahoma Posts: 3 | i just saw an s50 on craigs for $900.... i wish i had cash | | | 06-21-2009, 09:18 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2009 Location: tampa,fl Posts: 106 | m42 complete swap for $650? in fl | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
