- Charged the dead battery in the 97 after playing with the AVIC flip screen a bit too much.
- Pulled and fixed the center vent on the 95
- Installed an Alpine 9886 I picked up of of eBay, replacing the tape deck that was in the car. Even with the base speakers, the head unit is a nice clarity improvement.
A bit bright in the dark, even at the lowest dim setting. I set it to black out to preserve my night vision. Getting older sucks in some ways... __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! I end up driving home in silence after turning the radio off to keep from getting a headache from eyestrain. And quite surprising how much better the aftermarket sounds over the stock HU. __________________ No more ti. | | | 05-25-2012, 10:16 PM | #2419 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2011 Location: Broomfield,Colorado Posts: 664 | Replaced diff cover and new fluid and it seems smoother | | | 05-29-2012, 04:44 AM | #2420 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | I put a new headunit in my track car late last week came with a decent Kenwood CD player but I needed something that could play an iPod so I just grabbed the stock radio from my 95 ti this saturday I went to an autocross with it, I have a few videos of that to upload today my friend painted the rear bumper to match, no pics of that yet but I'll take some | | | 05-29-2012, 05:12 PM | #2421 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Wichita Falls, Texas Posts: 1,364 | Had my ti towed to my indie mechanic over the weekend. Coolant bled out after a short trip. Regardless of the source of the leak it's getting a new radiator and plastic water pipes. I caught the problem before the engine overheated. I had two new window regulators installed as the passenger side regulator was stuffed, and the drivers side regulator wasn't in the best condition. However they both work well now so I'm pleased! My temperature gage was always really inconsistent, it turns out that my temperature gage (in the cluster) is having issues! I thought it might have just been the thermostat but nope, my mechanic tested everything there and has traced the problem to the cluster! So that will be coming out sometime soon. Something else interesting happened too. He gave me a call and asked me if I'd ever done an engine swap for my compact, which I hadn't, and I strongly doubt the previous owners (older retired couple) would have done so. It turns out that my compact has a 318i engine in it, in comparison to a 316i engine. Very strange! | | | 06-02-2012, 02:15 AM | #2423 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: Tulsa, OK Posts: 252 | Installed a new front bumper and fogs __________________ 1996 318ti base: m44, 5 spd, lsd - 18x8 bremmer kraft wheels w/sumitumo tires 225/40R18 & bmw locking lug studs, 10mm spacers in rear, halo headlights, cold air intake, koni str.t struts and shocks w/mounts, h&r sport springs, serp belts, control arm & tie rod kits, front sway bar links, JVC kd-x50bt headunit w/ipod hook up in the glove box, alpine sps-500(front and rear), jl audio 10" powerwedge max, jl audio 250.1 amp, motor mounts, fuel filter, passenger side window motor, drivers lower window run, muffler hanger kit, various interior bulbs, left door striker/ajar switch, lower hood latches, changed from gray vinal to black leather shift and parking brake boots, m3 weighted shift knob, ngk-r spark plugs, magnecor spark plug wires(blue),new cabin micro-filters,new headliner & a-pillar mouldings, 5w20 synth-blend oil and filter, BG Ultra Guard syn. rear end fluid & ls additive, BG Syncro Shift II syn. manual trans fluids, stainless steel braided brake lines and dot 4 fluid, extra brake light mod, new p/s reservoir and rubber hoses need to do - fix door panels, paint job, MORE MONEY!! | | | 06-02-2012, 09:33 AM | #2424 | Member Join Date: Apr 2012 Location: Shropshire / Powys Posts: 34 | Removed drivers side lower arm due to catastrophic ball joint failure, straightened out drivers wing due to catastrophic ball joint failure, decided I am going to fit polybush front arm rear bushes so left the arm off for now. After 50-60 miles car is got unhappy. Took all the fun and zip out of it. I refilled with 91 this morning. Hopefully this will bring it back to life. | | | 06-03-2012, 08:50 PM | #2429 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Replaced a corded tire with a worn tire on the it. The PO had installed Bosch +4 platinums and when I pulled them, they looked like they had about 100k miles on them! Seriously, the electrode was significantly recessed into the ceramic and the ground prongs were noticeably thinner at the tips than at the base. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
