fuel stabilizer, disconnect battery, probably a car cover, something to keep mice outta the car ... they even sell big bags you can drive your car into to seal them off from the elements. if you know someone who'll be in the area that could go drive it once a month or something, you may avoid a lot of the above requirements.

Thumbs up

I just got back from Kosovo earlier this year, and while gone (10 months) I had someone drive the car. I am also leaving again, this time for Iraq, and will put in the Stabil and put on a cover since it is winter. I have had great success with Stabil in everything I have stored.

Good luck and keep your powder dry.

I just got back from Tikrit last month (18 month deployment). The best thing you could do is have someone you trust start the car every now and then. It was easier for me cause I'm married. If you got a girl or someone you trust just have them do it. Whatever you do, DON'T SIGN A FULL POWER OF ATTORNEY to someone you don't absolutey trust with your LIFE. I know of 7 guys who signed a full POA to their girl and got fuked over big time. Be safe bro!!

Ditto on the comments about the Power of Attorney. It is very rare that anyone would need one. Just keep USAA insurance and the registration up to date and you should be fine. Your only worry is somebody dogging it on the autobahn...

YES!! watch out with that. I know they harp on it in pre-deployment briefs and even in boot camp but it really cannot be emphasized enough...there's a bunch of other helpful stuff i learned about paying rent and car payments and stuff but I'm sure you'll get to hear plenty of that if you already haven't. Anyways, good luck and watch out for the yellow charms in the MREs
