Default rev limiter?

i have a 95 and i've reved past 6500 rpm i thought that was what it was limited at. no it wasn't a down shift or missed shift over rev! I've heard that a chip moves the rev limiter up to 7000 rpm but i have no knowledge of having one.
Would there be any other reason (ie. canadian car) for not having the rev limiter at 6500 rpm?

the rev limiter is at 6500 rpm
but your rpm pointer in a tacho
when limiter is on, marks 6750....6800
in total red square...
test again your car!

moreover, tha valve idraulic lifter
and the armonic damper,
FAIL at 7200 rpm........

Default I have a 95 as well

I also have canadian 95 318ti and it reved all the way to 7 grand as well, but once you get there it starts bouncing. I recently got the Dinan chip and now when I rev to 7,000 rpm it just stays down it does not bounce.

The rev limiter is at 6600,so that you have a well working car!

At 7000 reaches a car with chip, remapping etc

If it's an OB1/m42 engine yes,and since you have a 96 you can get a chip. On OB2 cars you can't chip it,your ecu has to be reprogrammed or something on the lines of that.

Hey! Nope, thats not my Ti for sale on CG's site, but i get that a lot, they look fairly alike. That Ti was just bought by a 318ti.org member up in Okanagan.

I won’t be at the autoX, but I’ll be at CG's Re-Grand opening on June the 24th. My Ti will be there, as well as a bunch of CG's other project cars. Come check it out if you can. If you need any more info, just Pm me.
