Default Why are plug wires so damn expensive?

From rockauto.com:
NGK spark plug wires, 1995 2.2L Accord: $33.79
NGK spark plug wires, 1995 1.8L 318ti: $137.79

What's going on here? The engines are similar, the wires look the same to my untrained eye. I know about the BMW markup, but this is just silly. Or is there a legitimate reason?

The ti plug wires are pretty long, I don't know how they compare to the Accord's. I could see BMW also spec'ing a higher quality wire with different requirements.

The M42/44 is a pretty tapped out engine from the factory, look at the intake and exhaust manifolds. Both are designed really well and the aftermarket doesn't even try to improve on them as there are no gains.

The same could be true for the ignition system, even though they used a single coil pack with wires instead of individual coils.

Just run you some searches. I found a brand new set from a legit seller on ebay for half the normal asking price. Might take some time but be diligent and it will pay off.

I have a set of unused bavauto performance wires I will be letting go. Best offer from a site supporter gets it ;-). Cost over 100 plus shipping for sure. I have coil on plug now.
