I have 125k miles on my car. The car runs great, but i dunno if a $4k investment is worth doing with my milage......any suggestions? How many miles do u guys have on ur SuperCharged TIs? | | | 08-23-2006, 02:56 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Quad Cities, Iowa Posts: 2,110 | Its German! These things can go for ever if you service them right. I wouldnt worry about mileage though because the truth is that you probably wont get your money back out of the S/C. Mods actually decrease value not increase it. There will be few people willing to pay the extra for the S/C. If your worried about resale value then dont buy the S/C, it will only make it harder for you to sell if your trying to get the money out of it. The S/C is really just for your enjoyment. __________________ "Drive Fast and Take Chances" | | | 08-23-2006, 03:06 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Gilroy Posts: 158 | Quote: Originally Posted by SDKmann The S/C is really just for your enjoyment. | Thats what i was trying to say....i wanna be able to enjoy the car for a while if i gonna put a $4 supercharger on it with 125k.....ur right though, i take care of the car so it should be worth it.....i am not worried about the resale value. A s/c or turbo will decrease the life of your engine no matter if it's domestic or foreign and with 125k on it i wouldn't even bother. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 08-23-2006, 02:08 PM | #7 | doesn't care about you. Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Denver, CO Posts: 3,925 | Do a compression check on your engine. If you have less then 160psi on any one cylinder, or if your compression isn't the same on all cylinders, I wouldn't do it. I put my DASC on at 100k, I'm at 140k right now and haven't had a single problem. The DASC will last longer than the motor, and motors are CHEAP. If you blow your m44/m42, just buy a new one for <$1000 and start over.
