Default Vent window edge protection replacement?

The rubber trim ("edge protection" in realoem parlance) on my driver's side vent window is torn. Realoem has the trim listed as a separate part, but past postings on this subject include comments that you can't just replace that part - you have to buy the entire window.

Is this really the case? Seems like if you could just get the trim, new could be installed with, say, windshield cement or similar.

Also, realoem lists the glass as "green side window". Wassup with "green"?

Thanks!

Pictures or part numbers? I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'vent window' (I'm getting images in my head of early American cars that had a 'wing window' in front of the side window for vent purposes). Do you mean the side window?

"Green" just means it's a tinted window- the factory tint is a very light bluish-green.

He's talking about the rear pop open windows. BMW refers to them as vent windows - his terminology is correct. The "green" is due to the unnoticeable factory tint. PN: 51368242601 AND 02.

Ahh, OK- that makes sense. My mind was somewhere else, apparently...

Yeah, I don't think that rubber is available separately.

Seems that's the case - the diagram on realoem shows "edge protection", but evidently this is the "gasket" that fits inside the body's window opening. The glass comes with its own rubber surround. So, new glass it is...just wonder if I can find someplace that will mail this, or if I have to get it from the dealer...
