Default OEM subwoofer

Has anyone ever seen an OEM subwoofer? Looking back, i never would have gone this route, but what is done is done. Wanting to stay with stock appearance, i basically upgraded the entire OEM system with the HK speakers and HK amp from other e36's. Not a high priority project, but after close to a year, i finally got the HiFi switch wired in to the amp and thought that magicallly the "spatializer" sound would significantly improve. Was marginal at best. But as i have put significant time/$/energy into going the direction i did, i am not thrilled to have to undo the rear line load out with a 2nd amp and add a subwoofer for i would further loose the stock look. I see this part # 65132267113 on OEM and can see it for prices from $5xx-$7xx on various parts suppliers. Is this just a standalone box that sits in the trunk or is it something "factory" look tied into the right rear well. (parts diagram is not real helpful). And where does it get its power from? does it come from the battery separately or is the wiring diagram different? Or is it a simple bolt-on accessory part that will run off of the standard 10 speaker amp/wiring harness in the trunk? Any help would be appreciated.

You need a copy of the PDF Electrical Schematic (275 page OEM Pub). You can find a link to a copy here somewhere. See the "Radio/Hifi" pages. They show how the OEM Powered Subwoofer is wired in to the Hifi Amplifier (I assume you have the OEM Hifi 10 Speaker System).

As for sound quality or the lack thereof (mainly lacking bass), I just added a Bazooka 50W Powered Subwoofer (21-85 Hz) and wired it exactly like the OEM Powered Subwoofer and it sounds so good it's like I'm listening to the songs for the first time. I hung the Bazooka from the rear hatch Tray to avoid using up floor space.

I am very pleased with the Blaupunkt 8" subwoofer that I got on Amazon for about $150 Hardest part of the installation is running power from the battery to the trunk. It has a small, efficient footprint sitting on the truck floor; gets a great sound. Powers up automatically when it receives a signal from one of your rear speakers.

Can you shoot a pic of your setup?
