Default 328i Engine Swap Question! (?Heater Hose's?)

Okay so I am currently doing a 328 conversion in my 318ti compact and at the stage where I'm just about to put the engine in, But what did people do about the heater hoses? I've taken the electronic bit off so am left with two hoses now instead of 3 but do they plug straight in or do the hose's need some modification ?

I'm presuming there going to be hard to play about with once the engines in..

Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Okay just incase anyone else gets confused by this I think I figured out how to do it..

Use the 318ti Heater Control Valve and connect to the car like so:

The Red hose in the below picture I left from the standard 328 one, But the Red hose is the one from the 318 engine then connect them up to the right colours

Hope this makes some sort of sense, I was told I needed to get rid of the heater control valve and Mod the hoses to fit so got really confused on what to do, hopefully someone else doing this conversion will find this !

Sweet cor I'm doing the same thing granted not as nice as yours, I need to get mine done quick so we can move out of our current house to her mums and save for a deposit bloody thing. Any how I'm at the same position I have my engine in and was just looking into this now.

Mine was only a 1.6 I'm doing the coolant hoses like this

I didn't have heater valve on mine so I'm just going to plumb it all in like the above but on m52

I used the 318ti heater valve, like the one you have shown. Looks like you have it figured out. I don't think I'd run it straight through without a valve. It's going to get hot inside without it this summer for bigbungster.

It's something I'm looking in to when I stripped it down there wasn't one in there seeing your pictures and having a scout through real oem and some wiring diagrams at the moment to figure it out it originally was a 1.6 and a 94 car I'll soon find out

Yeah got it connected up now had to trim the "blue" (in my picture) hose a little to make it slightly shorter as it was kinking once on, but it all fits nice now, that's a very good point about the heat inside, I'm glad I figured out to use the control valve

That's strange I thought they would have all had one, could be wrong though Real OEM is a life saver haha love that site! Hope you get it figured out!

I'm doing the same setup with the red and blue hose but what about the third hose? Ya know the middle one on the 328i? Now it's left out, where does that connect to since 318ti only has two ports? thanks

I think I got this right, the 328 at the firewall has two hoses leading into the interior heater cores with a single return hose for a total of three at the firewall. The ti has one hose in and one hose out. The 328 has a heater control valve with one hose in from the engine in and two hoses out to the firewall. The ti has one in and one out. you will need to use a ti heater valve with your ti

Yeah as above !

Think I found a way to explain it..

The red hose in this picture will not be needed on the compact because there are only two ports from the bulk head.

When using the compact heater valve it only has two ports on the valve rather than the 3 that the 328 one has.

So use the 318 heater valve and connect the blue hose to where the red hose was connected to on the heater valve.

Hope that makes some sort of sense!

Did like minimike and so far so good, car been on for mins and still staying at mid range. Was leaking cooolant earlier from the hose in the back because it was shorter? Or i probably not tighten it tight enough but, no leaks now! Thank god! and thanks all!
