Refit my intake filter. Wasn't snug enough. Then stared at how nicely the car sits. When I was coming back from O'Riley's the guy next to me said: "Nice ride".

Went to the local dealership and bought the two infamous plastic water pipes. Here's a buying tip that works for me at my local BMW dealership. I look up the parts number for the part that I need on the site, getbmwparts.com, the parts website for Tischer BMW in Silver Springs Maryland. I get the Tischer quote on the price, then take order down to my local BMW parts guy who gives me the Tischer price which is always cheaper than the local price. I got this started when I balked once when the dealership quoted me $109 for a part that Tischer sold for $78. When I mentiond this to the parts guy he said that he would match the Tischer price on any part. With this arrangement you save shipping costs, but pay tax on the part. You local dealership gets your business. You usually get the part quicker than you would over the net and you get face time with the parts man who can be helpful in many ways. It's worth a try with any dealership; unless the parts guy has an attitude, he'll probably say yes.

I tried this with my local BMW dealer and his response was: "All dealers set their own prices, this is my price." Which, BTW, was about $10 OVER dealer list price per item for the items purchased. I would have just ordered them online, but I was in a time crunch and needed them that day.

Good thing about living in L.A. is you have multiple dealers to do business with. I have just one in Wichita Falls, Texas, so I was a little surprised they would negotiate on price.

Default Oil Leak Fixed!

I had an oil leak for over a year on my 318ti. I noticed on the knowledge base on this website that a replacement of the gasket on the oil filter housing would fix the leak. Bamm! Thanks for the great information. Changed gasket last night and started car up this morning. No leaks! Yeah! Now I can park it anywhere and not mess up the floor or driveway. Love my ti!

Default Replaced Power Steering reservoir

Began changing fluids about a week ago.... Power steering got quite. Fluid was finally getting red again so I put the new reservoir on today. Next up is the starter... Have to find the DIY for that.... Bought the car with 185k on it and still had original reservoir with factory clamps....

Replaced the mechanism that the hood release lever attaches to.
Also installed my new cool milled hood release lever.

Bled the brakes with ATE Super Blue fluid on Sunday.

Thoughts -- Well, this being my first ever experience bleeding brakes I did not know what to expect outside of reading as many posts as possible; so here is my take.

1. It was quicker and easier than I had imagined.
2. The amber fluid being extracted from the brake lines had tiny particles in it and did have some a few air bubbles.
3. My wife had to pump the brake pedal many times, and I had to loosen and tighten the nut the same amount of times for the fluid to process through the brake line, through the clear tube, and into an empty water bottle. It seemed almost sludge like at first.
4. It was pretty neat to see the plastic tube turning from amber to amber/blue, then to solid blue.
5. I had to take off both front tires to reach and see the valve in order to loosen it. I was hoping to just turn the wheels and have access. Nope.
6. All 4 valves were 7mm.
7. The old brake fluid was an ugly dark brown color in the water bottle. I wanted to put a Mr. Yuck sticker on it right away!

Results -- Not much of a difference in braking performance, slight but somewhat noticeable. What I appreciate is the air bubbles and particles streaming out of the car via the brake lines! That is enough to satisfy me with the effort made. All this in the rain too.
