Question Car dings at 37 degrees?

I saw this discussion on bimmerforums: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=454018

Basically what it says is that the E36 have a chime that dings when the temp gets to (and below?) 37 degrees.

Do our cars do this? I don't think I have ever noticed it before.

Thanks. I had suspected that.

Speaking of OBC, I am going to jack my own thread and ask for pics of the 318ti OBC since I have never seen one.

OK, now that I know what the ti OBC looks like, let me ask another stupid question: is this the one all the OBC retrofit threads are about?

Yeah my OBC dings at 37 degrees. Is this the point when the heated side mirrors kick in?

As far as i know when you turn on your rear defroster the side mirror defrosters come on. I could be wrong on that,it doesn't make sense that there always on cause they wuld burn out every week if that was the case.

Yeah I don't see a reason they would keep the side mirror defroster always on. That would just put unnecessary wear on the heating element and drain on the electrical system.

The picture on the 1st page is the OBC,you control it from the left stalk on the steering wheel. That is if your car has it.
