I have recently purchased a 1996 BMW 318ti of course, and the rear hatch doesn't want to open. It will lock and unlock the doors, but doesn't seem to release the hatch or anything. I am not really familiar with opening it, but the button tends to stay popped out at all times. If I push it in, it might stay, but with a slight tap will pop back out. Hope that makes sense Thanks Guys! | | | 12-22-2010, 04:01 AM | #2 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | did you try from the inside? | | | 12-22-2010, 04:07 AM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: PA Posts: 15 | Haha, I actually haven't and am not sure how, I haven't even looked through it much to tell you the truth because it didn't open. I'll see if I can figure out how to get it from the inside! Thanks! | | | 12-22-2010, 05:41 AM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: PA Posts: 15 | Sadly I had no luck finding a way of opening it from the inside __________________ 1996 BMW 318ti | | | 12-22-2010, 07:19 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Minneapolis, MN Posts: 307 | Did ya try using your key in the button? Is it really cold there? How easily does the key turn? I've had my lock get really stiff and almost frozen, and had to work the key to get it to unlock before. __________________ 1995 318TI base. 95 2.5L from 325IS. S50 cams+pistons, e36 M3 front brakes. It is colder here, but the car sits in my garage at about 60 degrees. the key turns pretty easily too. __________________ 1996 BMW 318ti | | | 12-23-2010, 01:52 AM | #9 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: PA Posts: 15 | http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13345 That is what I found. Have tried lubricating the lock, then tried to get the plastic cover off of the lock so that I could just take it out to replace the bits. I cannot get to the lock! It seems like I must have the hatch door open to get to it. Does anyone know how to get to the pieces without taking the car apart? Diagrams or links to diagrams would be much appreciated. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
