Default new guy in a bind too. 1999 e46 318i

So I picked a 1999 318 with a blown m43 motor. After looking into swaps the e46 seems to be a pita due to canbus. Now I am no stranger to making things work. I did the first ls swap into a nissan 240, had a 2jz mazda fd, and in my garage now I have my monster r33 gts25t and r32 gtr.

anyhow im here because I need need a motor and getting a m43 is out of the question. However it appears that the m44 is a great option that I can run on the m43 dme and harness but hw to do

6cyl swaps are popular to, a good motor to turbo is a m52b28, just with freshing up the motor, getting a mls head gasket and arp head studs you can have 400 hp reliably for a very long time, some users have no trouble with 500 to 550.

since you are in Philly, call Bobby or Merritt at Prussian Motors in Norristown Pa. this is a salvage/parts shop for bmw's and they personally own ti's. very responsive and knowledgeable. they have an extensive inventory of all sorts of bmw parts/components.
