The Engine Temperature Gauge has always been working intermittently as long as I can remember. It seems to work fine for 6 months then not work at all for a week or two then it will repeats the same loop pretty much since it was new. The temperature gauge always seemed to work when my sister took it back to the dealer for service and the mystery was never solved. It just stooped working today again but I can be sure as the sun will rise tomorrow that in a couple days it will start working again. The connectors on the dash cluster are secure and clean and the sending unit wires seem fine. I thought a bad sending unit could be the problem but it seems to me that it should have failed completely by now. Anybody have a viable answer???? Should I live with it because it works 90% of the time??? The car has never overheated or had cooling issues and always ran excellent. __________________ 318ti, sport, hellrot, 05/95 Munich, Germany | | | 03-28-2007, 07:17 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: la jolla, ca Posts: 222 | Might need to solder some connections, I know in E30's overtime it was necessary. The lower part of my gauges are dim (even with new bulbs) so that is on the to-do list. If I give a good smack to the dash above the gauges, it will on occasion fully light up. __________________ Present: `99 M coupe Past: `91 330is; `95 318ti Active; `93 325is; `97 318ti Sport; `89 332is | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
