You might want to glue the felt lining into the new rail and once you get the rail installed, replace the weatherstripping and do the slam test with the window down a few times to ensure the window stays on track. | | | 06-27-2012, 05:11 AM | #2522 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2011 Location: Fremont, CA Posts: 148 | First time I worked on my car! Before I always paid a mechanic, but $$$ are low and dreams are high. Two days ago my friend showed me how to change my valve cover gasket, put in new spark plugs, Magnecore wires, and cabin air filters. Earlier today the car started to overheat. Needle got up to 3/4 mark. Pulled over and opened hood to get some colder air. Couldn't move because of 2 hr. traffic jam caused by accident on bridge. Turned on heater and temp went back to normal. Did search on this forum and figured out its probably fan relay. Called mechanic - $10 for part, no charge for advice. __________________ Trixie Alpine White 1996 BMW 318ti Sport | | | 06-27-2012, 05:26 AM | #2523 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2011 Location: Broomfield,Colorado Posts: 664 | Quote: Originally Posted by jggonzalez Earlier today the car started to overheat. Either way, definitely looks like it could use the spare Bilstein/H&R suspension setup I have sitting in my garage. Also, if that is a 'sandgrau' interior (looks like it may be), I have a bunch of spare interior pieces if you need anything (shameless plug...) Where in the LBC are you? AND last week or so took a part drivers door panel to see if I can save the regulator arms "again" cleaned up all the goop on the rails, bent it back the best I can I need to get a new slider that fits in rail - bummed to see the damage to the tint after I took the panel off and got to the window - may or may not stop at the tint shop on the way to pick up piece to see what they will do me to redo the window... hope not much... especially since it's already off and would be an easy job. Yesterday I replaced the outside passenger rtab bushing - made my own tool and worked like a charm. Was going to do the inside but didn't have time to take off brake line to remove bushing and put it all back and bleed before the sun came up! If that brake line was just a 1/2 inch further away I would have had both done... took the car out after replacing that bushing and what a HUGE difference the ride was... sweet is all I can say... and am VERY happy the inside wasn't shot and forced me to stay up all night... BUT... no more jiggly arse! did the brakes and rotors last week | | | 06-30-2012, 04:26 AM | #2533 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2012 Location: Lexington, KY Posts: 10 | Quote: Originally Posted by ti-billy Check engine light came on when I left work for lunch so I parked her in the garage and drove my truck back to work. That was all... I knew about that so it's no biggy. Still don't like the light on... but nothing else came up and I simply don't have ABS which is not the end of the world for me. | | | 06-30-2012, 04:28 AM | #2534 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: Tulsa, OK Posts: 252 | Went out and started the ti a little while ago and check engine light is now off, guess I'll just keep an eye on it. __________________ 1996 318ti base: m44, 5 spd, lsd - 18x8 bremmer kraft wheels w/sumitumo tires 225/40R18 & bmw locking lug studs, 10mm spacers in rear, halo headlights, cold air intake, koni str.t struts and shocks w/mounts, h&r sport springs, serp belts, control arm & tie rod kits, front sway bar links, JVC kd-x50bt headunit w/ipod hook up in the glove box, alpine sps-500(front and rear), jl audio 10" powerwedge max, jl audio 250.1 amp, motor mounts, fuel filter, passenger side window motor, drivers lower window run, muffler hanger kit, various interior bulbs, left door striker/ajar switch, lower hood latches, changed from gray vinal to black leather shift and parking brake boots, m3 weighted shift knob, ngk-r spark plugs, magnecor spark plug wires(blue),new cabin micro-filters,new headliner & a-pillar mouldings, 5w20 synth-blend oil and filter, BG Ultra Guard syn. rear end fluid & ls additive, BG Syncro Shift II syn. manual trans fluids, stainless steel braided brake lines and dot 4 fluid, extra brake light mod, new p/s reservoir and rubber hoses need to do - fix door panels, paint job, MORE MONEY!! | | | 06-30-2012, 04:39 AM | #2535 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | Put Zippy up on a lift today. Checked all of the bushings and found nothing worth replacing. I am headed into mechanic mode tomorrow and changing my Guibo and trans mounts. Also, breaking down my new wheels. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
