Default HID swap on 1998 318ti

Hey guys I'm not super experienced with cars at all. However I'm really short on money so I can't take the car to a shop or anything. My right light just went out and prior to this I have thought about putting HIDs in since the regular halogens weren't lighting effectively. I've seen several "slim hid conversion kits" on ebay that come with bulbs, ballasts, and brackets. I was wondering what bulb type would be optimal and is this kit everything I need to successfully install HIDs in my bmw?

Thanks for the time and consideration. Any opinions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated

This seller offers a warranty on the item. Can you explain the steps say if I order a set off of a branded website? Thanks

If you are buying the cheapo HID - make sure you stay away from the slim ballasts, get the big ones and you should be fine.

don't put HIDs in your stock headlights, the reflector housing isn't designed for them so the beam pattern won't shine that much farther ahead than the regular bulbs, all you'll really accomplish is making every person driving towards you at night hate you

you could get the projector headlights from DDM Tuning if you want HIDs, or if you don't want to spend the money on those you can get a set of Silverstar bulbs or something similar to get some better lighting without blinding people

I use Silverstars and feel they are plenty adequate. My factory housings are pretty clear too, so that's a plus.

I have heard this argument over and over, I do not think it is 100% true, there are certain cars' lenses that are notoriously bad when retrofitted with HID - the Ti is not one of them - I have HID in mine right now - I also have a brand new set of projectors ready to go in - I have not ever had one single person complain or flash me with the HID in my stock housings, true it is not as good as other HID setups, but still WAY better than stock or any "silverstars"

And BTW - DDM is not the place to buy lights IMO.
