Thanks! The car is at the indie shop now and we await results. As I was parked on the freeway inching forward in traffic, I first smelled coolant without visible indicators. Outside temperature was only about 80 at this point. Then as I was planning a march across 3 lanes of jam packed traffic I saw the first visible indication of coolant. It was coming out of the windshield wiper area (in-between hood and windshield) initially.

Was lucky enough to have shoulder space to pull over and the temp showed still below the red area but heating up fast. After letting it cool down for a long time I drove it to my brother in laws house about a mile up the road. It was towed from there this morning, poor thing.

There was no leaked coolant in the front part of the car at all and it took me a while to actually find the leaky area as most of the coolant went underneath the car. I almost have nothing to clean in the engine compartment! We'll see though when I have more time to look.

David... I'm still planning to buy one. I just realized last night that my battery was recently replaced so I want to check with my mechanic to see if the new one is taller than the old one. I'll call him again tomorrow.

Default Battery height not an issue with this bar

It is easy to tell if the battery is higher, the cover won't shut...ask how I know LOL!!!

Battery height is not a concern with John's design as that was one of the goals when it was prototyped. This bar passes in front of the battery so height and access is not an issue.

I look forward to your order,
Dave

That's all well and good, except for one problem: the battery cover has been missing for a while.

Well that is a different story, but won't matter as this bar passes in front of the battery box, not over it

Not sure on this one, will check with John to see if he has any experience with export to Australia, I am sure it wont be cheap. I got brake hydraulic lube from PBR to test and maybe see is there is a market here for it and the shipping was stiff.

Give me a bit on this one as I am having some family medical issues taking up my time.

Default PHOTOS!!!

Thanks to Darren we have photos of the first installed production bar in powder coated steel, and thanks to him for being the "test subject".

The strut brace is a fine looking piece of engineering and workmanship. Have a look and get your orders in to me and get a closer look for your self

Thanks Dave.

If postage is too expensive/or difficult to organize, i can have a chat with my mother as she will be visiting the states in April and sort something out.

Hope your family medical issues get resolved asap.

Darren: How much tighter does the ti feel in corners with the brace on?

Just the same as far as shape and quality, just with a ScotchBrite brushed finish, check out Mason Egineering's site for an example of the finish. this link will show you one of his other bars in aluminum to give you an idea...
