(95 with 75k miles, base suspension) I have just ordered a 17" rim and tire package, but I would also like to consider lowering the car about 1" just for asthetics. Here are my questions. - I am assuming that the general ride quality would worsen by lowering the car (it's just a daily driver, in town mainly, and we don't want a bone jarring ride) - would new stuts, shocks help, if ride is a problem (mfgr. recommended?) - do I understand that tire wear will be a problem on a lowered car due to camber change. Correct? - if so, what can be done? thanks for any advice regards D&D | | | 04-19-2006, 03:12 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: Milwaukee Posts: 236 | People typically say the bavarian auto springs retain a pretty nice ride while lowering the car a bit. New shocks will also help keep the ride nice. Camber will be off a bit and isn't really adjustable without camber correction plates/bolts. | | | 04-19-2006, 03:24 PM | #3 | Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Posts: 44 | thanks for the info nice looking ti you have there - I was considering going the stock route, but due to pressure from 2 teenage drivers-----I folded!!!! Otherwise, you'll mess it all up. | | | 04-19-2006, 04:21 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: Milwaukee Posts: 236 | eh, mine's still stock because I haven't sold my house, and money is tight. It will be modified (tastefully). but thanks for the compliments. finding an unmolested one-owner '96 last year was a stroke of luck. You can run something like the bavauto springs on the stock shocks, and it will work, but you'll be wearing out the stock shocks even faster. I combination of the bilstein sports with bavauto springs should be a pretty decent setup for comfort and looks. One thing that will affect the ride quality is the wheel size. 17s are going to be noticeable. But, they look nice. If you haven't gotten exhaust, I recommend the Bosal that there is a thread about on here. I've heard it and really like it. I want one. Then search for a 'fogged' airbox and do that, don't spend the money on an intake kit. That will get you a noticeable bump in HP for not a lot of money. | | | 04-19-2006, 05:09 PM | #6 | Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Posts: 44 | i'm not too worried about hp just yet, since I have 2 young drivers on the car, besides myself. (I drive my wifes 05 325 when I feel the need for speed) next will be an exhaust on the ti for sure, but I am thinking about using supersprint - I heard it is the quietest anyway, I get a kick out of driving the Ti since I like the looks better than the new 3's D&D | | | 04-19-2006, 06:30 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Asheville NC Posts: 669 | I see you're in waterloo, I may have my ti up your way in the next couple months. My wife's getting homesick (home is near fairway road mall) and a road trip may be in my future. I have bavauto springs and bilstien sports, if I'm up there you could 'try before you buy' with my car. I personally love the setup, it's the best all around for me. | | | 04-19-2006, 06:42 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Cincinnati Posts: 890 | Quote: Originally Posted by davendeb ...... since I have 2 young drivers on the car, besides myself. | It's been a really, REALLY bad year with respect to damaged TIs. Sounds kind of arrogant I know... | it isn't always us youngins' faults though. I am 18 and a lady in a mini cooper ran a red light and totaled mine out. on the suspension side... i had bilstein shocks/struts with H&R springs. mine had a really nice ride to it. really smooth and a perfect stance. i am selling it if it is not damaged from the wreck. if you are intereted in it. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
