Default Hello! I'm 'new' and what size wheels?

Hi All,

I've had my 318Ti for about six years now but I just joined this site.

I've been pondering getting upgraded wheels and I'm unsure what sizes of wheels I can go with that wont require any modifications ( like spacers, steering lockouts, fender rolling, etc ). I currently have the standard 15x7 10 spoke OEM alloy wheels.

So, for instance, would 17x8 with a 47mm offset work without any problems or mods???

Thank you for your advice!

Welcome!

That size will work no prob, has more to do w/ the width tires you squeeze on too. The offset seems large. Where are the wheels coming from?

IMHO -I would not use any wheel that is not hub centric without an adapter.

I drive my car hard enough that I don't want ANY chance of a wheel coming loose.

Hi,

They are 17" x 8" 2005 BMW 325i Sport Package Wheels and Tires that were taken off with very low milage. The tires on them are 225/45/17 Pirelli P6000.

Thanks for the responce and advice!

Hi Dave,

How do I determine if a wheel is 'hub centric' or not?

Thanks!

BMW stock wheels are center bored to fit the hub on the car,
the lug bolts do not really hold the car up they only hold the
wheel against the hub. Its why once you have the lugs off
the wheel sits until you pull on it (Mostly) Thats one of the
main reasons they use lug bolts instead of studs. Most
american cars the lugs center the wheel as well as hold it on.

When my shop orders circle wheels for race cars we have to measure
the hub of the car they are going on (If its not common) because circle will
match the wheel bore to the hub.

Good Luck..

Dave
