I'm running out to grab some parts/tools, so if you guys were thinking this afternoon, that'll still work for me...just be sure to call ahead and LMK what time you are thinking. Chances are pretty good I'll be doing more work on it tomorrow as well.

Had to work due to poor planning of someone else (that person is now on my sh!t list). We have to go order trees/shrubs and gather other stuff for building our retaining wall tomorrow. I'll probably be building the retaining wall and planting stuff next weekend too

Making progress! Finally wrapped up kevlar'ing the 2nd rear wheel well. Decided to just paint the fronts b/c of all the weird angles up there. Will try to get the remainder of the underbody painted & touched up tomorrow, and hope to flip the car right-side-up by the weekend...and of course more pics!

Was hoping to be done by early July, but obviously we've missed that target. Mainly most of our budget for this build went into getting our Evo back on the road for the Pikes Peak Hill Climb race, so that's slowed progress quite a bit. My goal now is to have it driveable by sometime in October. The first race for the carf isn't likely till April-May of 2011, so that'll give us some time to get the bugs worked out.

My big push to have it ready this fall is that I want to get in some slow-speed practice with the car at the driving school I work at. Nothing like bare tires on snow and ice to keep you honest. www.winterdrive.com

No pictures to share yet, but we just finished off the seam welding. Decided to leave some of the interior seams until after the cage was completed. Now that those are done, it's time to get painting...or is it time to start having fun with the hole saw?

For those who have done the swis cheese treatment, what's your recommendation? Worth the time and effort? How much weight were you able to actually remove?

Anybody know if those braces behind the door opening that go from the wheel well area are needed if the shock tower is tied in at the roll cage? Guessing that's a TI specific question...

Thanks!

Finally got to painting the engine bay. Used an etching primer and Duplicolor white wheel paint. Since this is going to be a rally car and not a concours quality build, I thought wheel paint might be pretty good for providing a tough finish.

I forget how imperfections in the surface are magnified after painting...but again, rally car, not show car. I'm pretty happy that I didn't see more than one or two paint drips, and it'll be great looking from 10' away. If it dries as good as it looks now, I may be temped to paint the whole car with rattle cans. At least if I need a touch up, its $6.49 at the corner parts store. Hmmm....

If your using rattle cans, I'd suggest the 'appliance epoxy' you can get at Homo-Depot.

It comes in black and white (maybe others) and it is VERY durable.

I'm a POR fan, it does not come off without a grinder.....

You can brush it on as its self leveling (Gotta use a good brush)
