The chip is for an M42 engine. OBD-I.
1996 is OBD-II. You can not use it.
OBD-II need to be uploaded to the flash ROM. __________________ ...steven

I emailed the seller of the Dinan Chip. It's for a 92-93 318is, which also has the M42. However, according to the Dinan application chart, this particualr chip has a different Dianan part# than the chip for the 95 318ti. The price is great, but you can't be sure that it's going to work in our cars. __________________
