Default Central Florida BMW autocross

Anybody else going to go to any of the Suncoast chapter auto-x events next year? I won't make the one in January but I plan on making the drive over to the one on Feb 25th.

Jan 7th
Feb 25th
Mar 25th
May 14th
Jun 11th
Jul 23rd (BMW - Porsche challenge)
Oct 22nd
Nov 19th
Nov 26th (BMW - Porsche challenge)

There are also a lot of SCCA events and HPDE type events in the first six months of next year. Lots of chances to get out an drive without worrying about getting a ticket..

Where can I get more information about these races? I usually just race with my dad's Corvette club lol, my local BMW chapter doesn't do too much.

I don't think CFBMW has anything to do with the Sun Coast Chapter of BMWCCA...

The list of BMWCCA autocross events held in Brooksville, one of the overall points leaders in A class last year was a Ti. We'll see if I can give him any competition.--
http://www.fscbmwcca.org/drivingevents.html

http://www.cfrsolo2.com/ --- has the schedule for SCCA Solo2 autocross events in Central Florida. Deland, Brooksville, Sebring, and Gainesville. The Gainesville test track looks like fun as it is solo2 on an actual track, not just a parking lot setup with cones.

Panzer- Your only doing a one day session? Last year it was only another 80$ to do the school on both days. You can get a hotel room in sebring for next to nothing.

http://www.pbocflorida.com/calendar_of_events2007.pdf has the list of track events at Barber, Sebring, and Homestead for the PBOC/BMWCCA performance driving schools. You have to be a member of PBOC or BMWCCA to register. I think they may allow you to attend 1 event per year without being a member.

Right now this is my plan for next year-

January 21st- SCCA solo2 in Deland
Feb. 11th- SCCA Solo2 in Gainesville
Feb. 25th- BMWCCA auto-x in Brooksville
March 19th- SCCA Solo2 in Deland
March 25th- BMWCCA auto-x in Brooksville
April 1st- SCCA Solo2 in Gainesville
April 22nd- SCCA Solo2 in Deland

May 19th-20th: Driving school at Sebring
July 7th-8th: Driving school at Sebring
October 27th-28th: Driving school at Sebring

Not sure what my autocross schedule will look like past May or if I will be able to get down to Homestead to do a driving school at that track. I would love to make it out to winterfest at Sebring but my car will just have been completed with the suspension upgrades and I would like to have some time behind the wheel with the new setup before jumping out on the track. This way if I have a mechanical problem I'm not out the 300$ event fee. So I'm going to do several auto-x events first.

CFBMW.org doesn't host any track/autoX events at the moment.

I'm saying the next big event we are going to is PBOC.

and CCA and CFBMW do not have good relations. This year's Challenge rally proved it yet again...I myself, prob am going to renew my lagged membership with CCA, I miss Roundel(Although Grassroots has been worthwhile as a replacement in the monthlys), stick with the Hardcore Motorsport freaks on CFBMW, and still claim my 1st loyality to 318ti.org and the cars I love.

I'm not running at the moment. Building at the moment. IIRC from the prepaid list of cars(close to 240) a good number of 318s are in, as are two 318tis...not sure who's runnning the hatches.

our winterfest thread.

Us, Spectators going to the event have started a cruise out plan, from Orlando, plus to a Publix for "supplies" and to setup what we will need and who is bringing what.

The only bad thing is that somebody said winterfest is open to everybody. Which is not really the case. You have to be in the intermediate or advanced instructed group to go to that DE. Most people thinking they are a good driver is not really going to cut it. They were checking for instructor comments and feedback forms from previous DE's at the last event I went to. Obviously if you know an instructor and they agree to run with you, you could easily get around the issue.

I don't really know any of the local CCA folks. I only joined for roundel, entry into DE's, and discounted parts from the dealer on the rare case that I have to go to the dealer. I guess if I had to call loyalties to any place it would be here. I think one of the other Ti's is the red club sport with 18inch dinan wheels that was at summerfest last year. I have a picture of it in my thread from that event. He had one and his friend also had one. He told me he went to most of the events at Sebring.

I just noticed the 200$ safety school on Friday. Might be kind of fun to get out on a skidpad for the day.

So who else will be going out to the Brooksville BMWCCA auto-x this weekend? I'll be getting up early on Sunday to make the drive over. The Ti's are making a strong showing in A group. Come help out..

I'll consider it pending on how much work I get done this weekend with the car/work/school, but I'll only be spectating if I go. How long is the drive to brooksville? How do we get there? I-4 West to I75 North? I'll let you know.

I live right on the Maitland/Apopka border. I take Clarcona-Ocoee to the 429. 429 south to the Turnpike. And then take 19, I'm pretty sure this is it, to 50. From 50 go out to Brooksville.

It took me about 1.5 hours to get out there. I was taking my time and enjoying the morning drive. Kind of a long drive for an autocross. But the last event everybody got 10 runs, and it was a fun track. Much better than the 4 runs and more money to run with SCCA in Deland, which is still a 45-55 minute drive. We were done by 3:00pm and I was home by 4:30.

Doesn't sound too bad. I'll let you know by Saturday if I can make the trip. What time do you usually leave? My big problem will be leaving like at 6am, lol.

I left my place last time at 6:30am. I got there right at 8am. I think BAM2002 told me they leave someone at the gate a little bit later than they say they do. I would just doublecheck to make sure you are ok to attend as a spectator. I think they have some weird rules about who is listed to be on the property.

Well my work sucks... Pays well, but when it ruins my weekend like this weekend it sucks. I got up this morning at 5:30 to get ready and was just to tired to from fixing problems until 2am last night. 3.5 hours was definitely not enough sleep to make the drive over. Maybe next time..
