National Meet 2008?

1.) Bimmerfest = Our event (socal) since its local.
2.) Vegas = My event cuz im turning 21.
3.) National Meet = 318ti.org Event

For the national meet we are going to need the whole week off! The days to chill, and the days to drive back and foward.

No matter what happens im going to vegas with my friend to celebrate my birthday. Thats something that is going to be set for sure. But any of you guys can come and probably pass out with me 2 days of having fun and one day of straight up getting drunk.

The BMW CCA already does a National meet. It doesn't make sense to plan a separate meet when someone else has already done all the work for you. I believe Steven is a major player in the planning for this one too. The event will be held at Watkins Glen.

I'm sure Steven can provide more details on this event for you. Oktoberfest is the biggest baddest national BMW meet in the US. If everyone meets there you can have a nice group of 318ti's and represent.

build up to a national meet with local and then regional meets. it seems to be hard enough to get local people to meet up. you guys in socal are doing it and we're getting there (i'm sure it'll be better when it's not winter around here). once the local "chapters" are active, you do regional meets. eventually you get to a national meet.

now, in the meantime, there's already a bmwcca national meet which we could try to get as many as possible to attend.

arranging a large meet is a lot of work. i personally think we need to work into it. just my humble opinion

just like Cali-Ti said, if people can't commit to show up locally then they wont show up if they have to drive a few hundred miles, maybe even a few thousand depending where the meeting is held.I remember when this idea was being tossed up back in 05. needless to say it never went anywhere. have local meets and post pictures to brag about whos meet was better. Isnt that what the internet is for?

more things to think about ...

1) how long is this going to last? too short and people from across the country likely won't bother, too long and people won't be able to stay the whole time
2) what activities are you going to have? people who own bmws typically would like to do some sort of track time or similar, but there would need to be more than that. car show? tech events? group drives (assuming scenic areas)? other activities in the area (eg: back when i was in the <cough>fiero<cough> club, we'd have meets at WI dells which was a touristy area that had plenty of activies.

i'll likely think of more as i eat dinner ...

but my oregon move is stopping me from doing a lot of things lately.

i stopped even considering buying stuff for my car and i am saving as much as possible for the month of may for my move.

but after that i get settled and its back to the spending lol.

unless i find another vader headrest then i'll buy that.

but i think a regional meet first and then build up to a national meet would be best! i think a location with things to do would be best.

and mountains and fun road would also be a plus!

Well what would someone want to do?
Registration for Ofest is going to be around $200 for the week, plus the cost of events. I'm working on the Ofest website right now.

Yea I don't wanna pay more than i have to. Unless it's well worth it than yea I'll do it. Yea steve let us know what we can do to help. I'm up to go to Vegas to that would be sweet.

i think i suggested lake havasu (arizona)...there is also bullhead city/laughlin (nevada).
i'll drive my ti to vancouver, british columbia just to see if it'll make it!
if there are a few ti's headed to watkins glen then count me in.
i will take a road trip anytime from april-october...
that leaves me pretty open to do what needs done.

also, i have a ton of family in california that would help with lodging if any of the MHTI club want to go there.

i used to hang out in Vegas a few decades ago...if that's the spot that calls...i'm there.
whatever works for the majority will work for me.
