Why $100? This guy is selling em for $55 plus $17 s+h. And don't hate the messenger. All I did was spot a good find T_T

Apparently there are specific CAI for each ti year. This link is for models 96-99, while I just saw one specifically for 97's only(don't know what the diff. is). Search the guy's store for "bmw", and he has numerous amounts of intakes.

Yea, I kinda like that idea. I wasn't sure if I wanted to make a home made 1 or go with a factory route. 1 way is cheaper but takes up a lot more time, and the other is a tad bit more expensive, but quicker to install. It's just a matter of how lazy I am on which day.

What's the main differences that you have noticed with a cosmo rather than a fogged? If you say it's better, I just might go with a CAI. Or in K&N's case, a DAI

My cosmo gave the engine a somewhat deeper sound when u punch it. I think it really opens up the motor a up at high end when it needs air the most. Mine was a gift so I couldn't turn it down

Well I have no numbers to prove it was better...I just said I liked it better...

but the sound is much better and overall it is just a cleaner look in the engine bay. it is also easier to remove if you need to work on your car (which I have had to do a number of times), but granted the normal airbox isnt too difficult to remove

I did the "Modified Cosmo Intake" that is listed in the air filters forum.

The fogged airbox is cheap, yes...functional...sure...but I didn't really like the look of having an intake made from alluminum foil and hot glue.

So to summarize...

CAI: sounds better, still functional, looks better

Fogged: functional, cheap

and people argue gains all the time...you can have the best intake in the world, but it still doesn't change the fact that are you driving a 4 cylinder car...

that's the reason I decided to go with the CAI over fogging, nothing against the people who do it, but around here, the only people with DIY intakes like that are the ricers with the beat to sh!t civics and neons
