This guy is selling em for $55 plus $17 s+h. And don't hate the messenger. This link is for models 96-99, while I just saw one specifically for 97's only(don't know what the diff. is). Search the guy's store for "bmw", and he has numerous amounts of intakes. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. I wasn't sure if I wanted to make a home made 1 or go with a factory route. 1 way is cheaper but takes up a lot more time, and the other is a tad bit more expensive, but quicker to install. It's just a matter of how lazy I am on which day. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. If you say it's better, I just might go with a CAI. Or in K&N's case, a DAI __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. I think it really opens up the motor a up at high end when it needs air the most. Mine was a gift so I couldn't turn it down | | | 09-05-2008, 04:19 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: cary, nc Posts: 2,259 | Well I have no numbers to prove it was better...I just said I liked it better... but the sound is much better and overall it is just a cleaner look in the engine bay. it is also easier to remove if you need to work on your car (which I have had to do a number of times), but granted the normal airbox isnt too difficult to remove I did the "Modified Cosmo Intake" that is listed in the air filters forum. The fogged airbox is cheap, yes...functional...sure...but I didn't really like the look of having an intake made from alluminum foil and hot glue. So to summarize... CAI: sounds better, still functional, looks better Fogged: functional, cheap and people argue gains all the time...you can have the best intake in the world, but it still doesn't change the fact that are you driving a 4 cylinder car... __________________ 1995 318ti Active Pioneer Speakers [] Aluminum Billet door locks [] ACS Pedals/Deadrest [] ACS Shift Knob / E-Brake Handle [] Clear Corners/Tails/Sides [] Sylvania Exterior Lighting [] Custom CAI [] Dinan Engine Chip [] Dinan Transmission Chip [] H&R Race Springs [] Tokico Illumina Shocks [] BMW X-Brace [] Relocated Lighter Mod [] Custom iPod Mod http://www.cardomain.com/id/robcarync | | | 09-05-2008, 09:30 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | Quote: Originally Posted by robcarync The fogged airbox is cheap, yes...functional...sure...but I didn't really like the look of having an intake made from alluminum foil and hot glue. | that's the reason I decided to go with the CAI over fogging, nothing against the people who do it, but around here, the only people with DIY intakes like that are the ricers with the beat to sh!t civics and neons | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
