what are you looking for? the headlights or the bulbs? bmw uses "xenon" HID bulbs with plastic projector headlights. the only way you can get that look is an aftermarket HID kit like Eagle and install them or if you want the projection look you have to buy Depo or ZKW headlights. many people on here have this set up including me(except for the HIDs)

yeah, id rather get the whole headlight unit thing because ive already opened my cluster up to put angel eyes in and i really cant be bothered to do that all over again.. ive found units for e36 but none for e46.. which is strange because i have seen them on cars. even if it is a conversion kit sod it i'll get that one.. but does anyone have any idea where to get the from??

thanks..

Hello there, I've always wondered why we didn't have many e46 compact members here. In fact, I think you're the first person I've met with one. I realize now, that the reason may have something to do with our limited knowledge on the e46.

I know that with the e36, the headlights are interchagable. Some people say that only e36 sedan headlights will fit our vehicles, but after doing a part# cross refference on www.realoem.com I found that the coupe, sedan and compact share the same part# for the headlights.

I wasn't sure about the e46, so I checked it out on realoem and found that your headlights are compact specific. That doesn't necessarly mean that coupe and sedan headlights won't fit. Perhaps they used projectors on the coupe/sedans and short changed the compacts with regular headlights. The best way to tell is to visually compare the headlights side by side. I know this might prove difficult, but it'll be much easier for you to do, since the e46 compact wasn't offered in the US.

Do you know anyone with an e46 coupe or sedan? Perhaps you could raise the bonnet on one at the dealer or one for sale locally. I searched ebay.co.uk for "e46 compact projector" just to verify if there was anything available for the e46 compact, however I came up with nothing.

Anyhow, I'm sorry that we couldn't come up with a definite answer to your question. I wish you the best of luck and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see pictures of your car!
