Yes that is correct and with the proper coolant mix, could rise to 102*c or 103*c.

Sounds great. I was just worried that once I hit 100*C, I may warp the head. Good to know that up to 100*C that the engine is still fine.

I took it to Ohio and back this past weekend. 800 miles and the car did fine. Coolant temperatures have evened out at 88*C.

Okay, bumping this up since I'm actually having overheating issues. It creeps up after 10 minutes of idling which is now worrying me. I got it going to just before the three quarters mark.

I smell coolant after turning off the car. The expansion tank gets pressurized after running so the level gets real low. However, on the highway, it still runs at temperature and is stable the entire time.

What's going on here? What should I replace before it gets bad?

Okay. It doesn't overheat with the right amount of coolant. Now I gotta figure out where my coolant is going. It isn't a head gasket since no exhaust gases are going into the coolant. It might just be an old radiator with a leak. I smell coolant around the expansion tank but nowhere by the block.

Also, I've found out the low speed fan doesn't turn on. The high speed function with the a/c works fine though and cools the car well. Gotta figure that out too. It will be a challenge doing this in college.
