With a paved driveway and some stands, I'd do it. Not difficult. I can only safely use ramps in my driveway. And well, there ain't much clearance when you can only get one end of the car 9" off the ground. I'd KILL for a garage....Seriously.

To the OP, glad you got it figured out! They sure are a fun puzzle.

Hey guys. Sorry to bring up an old thread. However, I need the hose connecting from the "squid" branch connector back to the intake boot. In the pic it shows as connected to the branch but not connected to the intake tube.

I think it is part number 17 in this diagram, just because I can't find it anywhere else, but it's not clearly illustrated. 17 doesn't "look" like the tube I need either.

Does anyone know if it's part 17 or not?

Default Not sure

I am actually not sure, the diagram you posted is a bit different from mine (injector rail on mine is definitely different )...i.e. it might be from a m42 engine versus my m44(my car is a 97). Someone smarter than me can hopefully answer this.

Hmm, well mine is a 97 too, build date is 9/96. It's definitely an M44. Do you have a diagram of one that you recognize?

Default hmm

I was hoping I'd be able to look it up via the bmw parts software but of course when I need it..it's not working. I've been digging around and I do see that this is m44 97 (mine is March 97).
If we hear nothing from someone who knows...I am sure I can get the software working.
I know that I did replace the small hoses(the ones that connect into the injectors) at some point, so I did find parts numbers somewhere:-)

Crap... It's probably 17... It just looks entire different, but I don't see another purpose for that part. The diagrams aren't always super clear, so I'm kind of inclined to assume it's just par for the course and further assume it's the one we need baring any evidence to the contrary.

I probably need to replace the injector hoses as well. I'm sure they're shot too. I bought the diag tool and it told me I had a misfire going on. Jess (the guru) point blank said in another thread that it was a cracked intake boot. Sure enough this hoses is cracked on both ends. I just put duct tape on it!

Beside the point, I'm kind of surprised to see hoses like this leading to fuel injectors to begin with. I wonder how it works. I have to replace the ancient o2 sensors to address the catalyst code I'm also getting and want to order the parts tonight so I can get it to the next step asap...

That's it! I'm glad you found that because I didn't realize there were two part numbers for that guy with the same description! Surely I would have ordered the wrong 17. You saved my some frustration and time there. Cool! This board and you guys are invaluable. I love this car too. By the way getbmwparts has it for 5.10.

Right, yea I appreciate it! I really do. I mentioned that you can get it from getbmwparts.com for $5.10. They're the best I've found for OEM parts autohausaz.com doesn't carry.

Just an update on this. I actually ordered part 13411247782 which is the "asc+t = no" part. Even though my car has asc, it doesn't have asc+t apparently. For example, part number 3 is the long tube without the secondary throttle, but my car has the button inside for the asc. Anyway, if it turns out to not be the correct one, i'll come back and update, but should be the one without the "+t".
