Default CT26 Turbo Applicable?

My broski is mid-swap with his 1jz and offered me his ct26 snail for a pack of smokes. Figured i'd look into this whole FI shenanigans and googled if these turbos have ever been used on a bmw. So far I have found squat on them not even one thread out there of someone who slapped it on.

I'm pretty sure that yes with enough fab work and proper mapping that these can work, but is it worth it in terms of total cost vs me just buying a t3/t4 kit. My car is touching 130 miles and its about that time to consider additional power like this opportunity that fell into virgin boost hands.

I'm not looking for specific hp gains so if i can throw this on for say $1.5-$2k everything in and having more than 200hp i'll consider it.

So is it even worth considering as supposed to other alternatives that i can buy with my given price range? Pros and cons? I'm in the dark boys.

You should be able to do it for less than $1k if you have fabrication skills for your exhaust manifold. The MK3 supra ct26 was the initial plan for mine, but I didn't like how low it had to be in the engine bay where I wanted it, so I am going with an IHI hybrid that a friend found locally. It will fit where the A/C compressor would normally be(once you remove the bracket), but I didn't want it there.

That turbo will be capable of more boost than a stock m42/m44 can take, so tread lightly. They're very good turbo's though, and capable of more than the t3/4 "Kit" turbos available. Just remember, it should be coolant and oil cooled.

My recommendation, find where you want it to sit, get some flanges, and tack weld up a manifold. Then have it tig welded. It never hurts to go bigger than you need, especially if you ever do a low comp engine down the road.
