Default 95 club sport missing fan shroud

I just bought a 95 club sport and mine does not have the plastic part that is over the top of the electric fan plus maybe a part between that and the airbox. Only other 95 CS i have found pics of did not have then either. Can anyone help me to figure out if mine does not have this or its missing? Thanks everyone just making sure its legal for SCCA Street (stock) class.

I don't know for sure, but I imagine even club sports came with the shroud and the top plastic piece. I have noticed the top piece missing in lots of engine bay pictures of ti's for sale. Cheers, John

Early M42 318tis pull air from the driver side of the kidney grilles. The later cars had insulated duct that went over the fan shroud and picked up air from the passenger side. It was probably a way to reduce intake noise more than anything else.

My Wife's 95 does not have the top plastic piece either. I have one from a post 95 and modified it to fit to clean up the engine bay look.

I don't recall if the 95 I sold last year had one installed.

I just looked for a good thread that describes the models. Didn't find it, so here's the basics for the U.S. Models.
  • Base model - Nuff said
  • Active - cool options added. Cruise, OBC, alarm, leather steering wheel and shift boot, other stuff
  • Sport - M exterior trim(Except for 95), Leather/cloth interior, firmer suspension, upgraded wheels
  • California model - 96 only. Big canvas folding roof. Was an option on later years, but not a California model.
  • Club sport - Only 9/95 model month. or 10/95. I forget. A sport M-trim for that month. LSD, Sport trim, Specific interior. Any exterior color you want as long as you like black or hellrot.
I think in 99 they only made sports and not very many.

Thanks for the info I now see the difference sport, club sport, and Active .

does anyone know if you could get an active with the M-technic suspension with out having the sport/club sport bumpers and side skirts? I'm guessing if they had a M-tech suspension option it would be sport springs, larger sway bars and maybe the 16 inch wheel. Possibly the sport seats. That would be a similar option you find on the E36 318 and 325's. And if you could the million dollar question would be, was that offered in 95?

Prolly. I have a Sport with all of the Active options, plus a Cali roof and heated seats. You could have equipped it whatever way you wanted to spend I suppose.

I suspect if you had the cash to spend back then tho, you may have gone for a Coupe similarly equipped as it came standard with some of the Active features.

In 1995 the sport package had regular bumpers. The clubsport came with the m style bumpers. From 96 on the sport had m bumpers.
