Default shout out

Quick shout out to everyone. My name is Patrick and I was one of the original members of this page. I had a 1995 red club sport for about 10 years that I ordered new and then added some AC Schnitzer mods to it. I sold it to a friend of mine and thought about buying it back a few months ago but it was a little too rough on the interior for me and the tc kline suspension pushed the price point for me.

Anyway, have been thinking about one of these cars again for a little run about and because I like the cars that are unique. Curious of the S52 swap guys on how well the trans and diff hold up? Is it worth the time and effort to do the coupe swap?

Hi Patrick, welcome back. I really enjoy my S52 swap completed by another member. I have a ZF swap to do to get a more robust Guibo and need to swap in a 3.25 LSD over the 2.89 LSD currently installed. The Guibo has been replaced a few times and the LSD seems to have held up.

I only have a m52 (with s52 cams) and a med case 3.46 torsion diff from auto 3.0 z3, trans is zf also, I only have a few thousand miles on it, but I doubt its a problem... basically the s52/m52 swapped 318ti is comparable to the stock z3/z3m setup from BMW. ZF trans in e36 m3/z3m and other applications have help up with hundreds of hp without too much problem, same with the medium case z3/e30 diff. ~ with basic maintenance~ Of course if you track it/do launches or stress out the rear it can rip, but that also has been heavily documented. The transmission/differential (medium case) don't seem to be a weak point at all.

Welcome back!

Thanks for the responses. Are there any parts for the ti that are no longer available that I should keep an eye out on?

Not that I am aware of.

It seems like the aftermarket is actually growing, from SRS Concepts rear brake adaptors for bigger rear vented brakes to Felony Form's wide fenders for the 318ti

http://www.felony-form.com/product/e...-kit-pre-order

I think I have seen a growth of support, or I am more aware of where to look. Between the z3/e30/e36 we have parts/support galore.

-------------------------------------------------------
Not sure about some more 318ti specific oem only parts or random trim as I have not needed to look into that yet. I have been able to find what I need.

Earl would be a good one to ask as it seems he is replacing every bolt on his 318ti build:

Those parts would usually come from part-outs, I have not searched for those kind parts NIB. Sorry not too helpful on that part.
