Therefore, per everywhere I have read, I am supposed to have the vented front rotors. However, the vented rotors made for "318ti with production date 04/1998 and later" are way too big. If using American measuring system the solid rotors put on by the shop for the previous owner are about 1/2" thick. The vented ones are about 7/8" thick. The caliper won't accept the vented rotors...unless there is some magical extension that I am missing. Any thoughts? Furthermore, I will be returning the vented rotors and getting solids. However, I now face the situation that solid rotors were for 03/1998 and earlier. What about the ones bimmerworld has for sale for $20? Those are solids and I am pretty sure they will fit. Heck they are the cheapest ones out there too. __________________ B.M.W. = Be My Wife | | | 04-30-2010, 02:01 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Sounds odd. It's a little easier if you loosen the fluid cap on the master cylinder/resevior. Sometimes it can be a really tight fit if you have new pads. If your car is a 5/98 and you have solid rotors in the front, someone screwed you. | | | 08-22-2010, 03:17 PM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2010 Location: Louisville, KY Posts: 8 | I have the same problem. I rebuilt my calipers and they are WAY too small for the vented rotors. FAIL. I cussed and cried alot. Then I went to autozone to buy solid rotors. | | | 08-22-2010, 07:13 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2009 Location: Chicago, IL Posts: 181 | Do not use Autozone rotors. Do not use Advance Auto Parts rotors. Seriously, you can buy excellent Balo rotors for $30 each on www.autohausaz.com The rotors from the auto parts stores like Autozone are cheap chinese junk that will fail pretty quickly. Wearever rotors sold in Advance Auto usually warp in one years time. Anyways.... __________________ B.M.W. = Be My Wife | | | 08-22-2010, 07:38 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | Quote: Originally Posted by Recon427 | $20 at Bimmerworld will get you a set of OE BMW rotors too EDIT: never mind, it was in the first post | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
