Some of you have been following along my
buying my coworker's ti, well here she is.
It's a 1996 with 240K. He bougt it in 2001 with 70K and handed me a half inch thick folder of records, the near mint owners manual and two sets of keys with the remotes for the BMW alarm. It's remarkably clean aside from a large hole in the driver's seat, a few rust spots that look to be primarily on the surface and a loose interior driver's door panel. It's even still got the BMW spare tire bag under the rear floor. I paid only $500 because he thought the clutch was going out (more on that later).
Issues:
- Broken driver's mirror. It was hit on the street in front of his house mere hours before I picked it up. The passenger side was broken some time ago and it patched on with a hose clamp & electrical tape. It's secure, but I may replace it too.
- No AC. I don't really care.
- Something's dragging in the sunroof, there's a big scratch in the paint on the driver's side. He heard a scrape, got it closed last spring and never opened it again. With no AC, I'd like to get it working.
- Air bag light. Need to see about this one.
- Bad radio display. Probably can live with this too, once I get my presets programmed.
- Broken differential mount.
That last one is first on my priority list as it has rendered the car undriveable. It's what I think he was feeling when he was thinking it was the clutch. It failed good last night, but that story is in t
his thread.
