Default Window Regulator Broken Again........ARRRRGGGG

So monday morning i'm in my driveway at home and i roll down my window then i rolled it up. On the way up the window came up at an angle. I'm like WTF i just replaced my window regulator 5 months ago. So i make an appt with this guy i know at Inskip Bmw (after hours) who did this job for me before and i dropped it off yesterday evening. Go back to pick it up a couple of hours later and he tells me the regulator was defective and he put a new one in. So he only charged me $40 to do it. Gets even better,i left bmw and went next door to best buy,now i haven't been using my alarm cause it just randomly goes off. I put the key in the lock and turn it and it won't turm,it looks like my key lock on drivers side is busted. So i have to unlock and lock it by the trunk lock for now. What else is going to go wrong with my car this week

don't ask or you'll get an answer! be glad it hasn't been anything that keeps you from driving it or stranded on the side of the road.

Default Matched Set!!!!!!!!!!!!

Driving to work today, and the driver's side window started crapping out. I already rigged the passenger side temporarily and disabled the button. Now I have both windows F#$%^* Up!!!!!!

On the lighter side, I have a bumper to bumper warranty on the car through my local BMW dealer. I was able to get an appointment for Friday to fix these windows. I want them to replace what's messed up with all new parts. We will see what they decide is in need of replacement.

These windows are very prone to fault, my drivers side has given me quite a bit of trouble over the past few months, but never has it been the actual regulator or motor. If the window moves at all most likely one of the ball joints poped out of the regulator bushing, mine will do this if i, or someone else slams the door with the windows down, a quick and easy fix, new bushings are $3. After this, my window seemed to struggle so I cleaned off the dirty grease in the bushing slider track and put on some fresh white grease and that had it moving smoothly for a while. But the window kept coming up and getting stuck, so after the dozenth time pulling the door apart I found that the rubber and felt window guide/slider on the rear end of the window had worn thur in the middle and the corner of the window would get stuck there, had to order a new one for $20 but my window hasn't given me trouble since. Hope this might help.

I figure I might as well let BMW earn their keep for charging me $2300 for the warranty. They should know what is best and replace was is needed. As long as I have the warranty, I will let them do the work. When the warranty runs out, I will be doing the window maintenance.

Thanks
Eric

I would too, I wasn't trying to dissway you, just sharing my experience. Thought it may help others who aren't as fortunate.
You have an interesting moniker, i've only seen that phrase used in one other place, what does it mean exactly?

Yeah, my window was giving me trouble one day when i was on my way home from school, i posted about it. I was able to convince it back up, and after a few days of not touching it, I slipped and it fell to the bottom of the door. I fixed it twice, then decided to take the whole window out. The sliders were all gunky with like hair, dirt and nasty crap. I wire brushed them smooth, cleaned the tracks as well, and it worked for about 3 weeks. Then it happened again RIGHT before a thunderstorm last week. I Garbage bagged my door, and the next day I took everything apart, and noticed the regulator had a bent arm... I mean BENT it was like mangled, but i had never noticed it. I bent it back real good, heated it up a bit, and reinstalled everything again. It has been working perfectly since, (knock on wood) and it seems to fit better now than it ever did.

Is there any permanent "fix" for this problem on the E36? I know from past experiences that BMW has problems with the regulators on the E46, and 6 years later they still aren't "right"-- my parents had 6 of them replaced between two different E46s that they had.

I've already had both regulators fail on my car since I've owned it. The previous owner also mentioned that he had some window repairs made a short time before I purchased the car. I had one regulator replaced, and the tech at my dealer was able to "repair" the other one, though it now sounds like it is ready to break again.

Is this going to be an on-going problem? Is there anyone out there that has/can come out with a permanent fix?
