I read the write up on the "fogged" intake, sounds like a very good theory. I am trying something similar, however I'm going to relocate my horns, close off the intake on the side of the box and make a new one on the front behind the headlight, then run the pipe down where the horns previously lived. I have though about it and my theory is moving the intake to the front will move it farther away from heat sources such as the radiator and engine. What are your thoughts on this? Would it be worth the effort? also: Will this work with apexcone/depo projector headlights, as I am not familiar with how deep they are. __________________ 97 Boston Green 318ti Active | | | 05-01-2008, 03:52 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | sounds kinda like a cold air intake with fogged box in mind __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 05-01-2008, 04:07 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Southern California - Orange county Posts: 978 | Quote: Originally Posted by the tech also: Will this work with apexcone/depo projector headlights, as I am not familiar with how deep they are. | yes it will work i did the same thing as ur talking about its a good mod and its cheap __________________ 1995 318ti Cosmos Black Bilsteins w/ H&R Sport, Depos w/ angeleyes and HID 5K, 50% short throw kit, Custom fogged intake, AC schnitzer pedels w/ deadpedels, leather stickshift knob, vitesse tuning Ebreak boot w/ shift boot, X-Brace, 325/328 brake upgrade, Gray millpoint leather and cloth interior, custom computer multimedia system, and Style 5 BBS 17" rims, M3 Mirrors, CF Hood | | | 05-01-2008, 10:40 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | I'd do it, it would suck air from the same spot my CAI does and that's worked out pretty well for me | | | 05-06-2008, 06:46 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: dorchester Posts: 700 | My Fogged intake comes in front the front and lives behind the fog light so its nice cool air being sucked up...But why bother closing off the original pipe? Its bringing i cold air just not enough of it...Leave the original there as it is and just add the new one.. My opinion and what iv done anyways __________________ 18" AC Schnitzer alloys. When I think "fogged" I think of one of two things: 1. Nitrous Oxide injected 2. An air-to-air intercooler with a fogger sprayer to further reduce the intake charge temperature. What you guys are talking about is just a CAI. Is it because folks are routing it to their fog light provision that they nickname it so? I'm splitting hairs here, that's all. __________________ 1/1997 M44 ti M-Sport Schwartz II | | | 05-06-2008, 09:29 PM | #7 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH! The fact that it's M44 specific jargon explains why I hadn't heard it in other circles before. You were about to flame me?!? I'm glad you didn't take offense, because I tried to ask the question in a way that wasn't telling anybody they were wrong. Although it would seem now that when someone refers to a "Fogged intake" they should be sure to capitalize the F as it is invoking a proper pronoun. I'm pretty sure everyone used to say Fogged, as it is a proper noun, but it's worn off...just like people type "oh god" ... you get the picture. __________________ | | | 05-17-2008, 02:00 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: SOUTH Jersey Posts: 1,085 | Quote: Originally Posted by the tech I read the write up on the "fogged" intake, sounds like a very good theory. I did it without about $7 in supplies from Lowes. Works great with Depos as the "gutter adaptor" I used jogs the intake over to the slits in the Radiator support just like the intake system on the M42 and 6 cylinder cars do. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
