I need to replace the Rear Subframe bushings and have heard that swapping out the TI subframe for an M Coupe/Roadster is a good idea since it's stronger. I have a couple questions before I go forward with it. 1. What do I need to look for? I've seen posts for people parting out M coupes, but would I just ask to buy the rear subframe? Are there any other parts needed from the M coupe? 2. Will I need to replace the rear suspension I currently have on the car? What about the rear brakes? Thanks! | | | 04-04-2013, 03:18 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: nj Posts: 1,099 | Get the complete rear. The arms have a later beam thats reinforced, larger wheel bearings, and larger brakes that are also vented. The differential is limited-slip with a cooling louvered cover. The rear sway is also thicker in comparison to all ti spec bars. The rear coils are very nice and lower the car to H&R race spec and the shocks are a very nice compliment to the ti. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 04-14-2013, 04:26 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: PA Posts: 283 | I put an M Roadster and 318ti subframe next to one another and examined the differences. The mounts for the trailing arms are gusseted a little more on the M roadster. Also, if you look through the hole in the center (bottom side) of the subframe, the M roadster has an extra reinforcement bar (think "c" channel) inside it for added strength. I was going to sell my M roadster subframe until I saw that it is in fact beefier. Instead, I strip the roadster frame and por15'd it. Going in sometime this or next week with the rest of the M roadster goodies! Also worth noting, you have to use your brake lines from the ti and mount them to the M trailing arms. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Thread Tools | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
