Default oil on top of plugs

Just bought a 95 ti a week ago and while waiting for a new master and slave I decided to do a full tune up.while doing plugs i pulled the coil and the end of the coil had a bit of oil on it and the plug was submerged in about 1/4 inch of oil this was consistant for all 4. Only the last one was fouled and causing a miss. owner before me told me in needed a new valve cover gasket and that was the cause for the oil on the plugs. Does this sound correct? I already ordered the new gasket and I'm sure it needs it regardless. Is there anything else I should check especially while I have the valve cover off.
