Rogue Engineering Transmission Mounts

Ever since I bought my car it seemed like it took too much effort to shift the gearbox for a stock shifter. I had test driven other tis and none of them felt that way.

At first I thought it might be old trans fluid, so I changed that and used RP synchromax. That helped a little bit but didn't completely fix the problem. I searched around and read about the different trans mounts. I wanted something that would give me a good shift feel and could be used for daily driving.

I decided on the Rogue Engineering mounts and ordered them from BimmerWorld. Installed them last weekend (very easy to do). However, when I got under the car to take the stock mounts off I discovered that the two nuts on the top of the stock mounts were completely loose. I was able to easily spin them off by hand. This no doubt contributed to the problem I was having. I installed the Rogue mounts to the proper torque spec and went for a test drive.

It was immediately noticeable that shifts were smoother and engaging more accurately. I have been driving with it for a couple of days now and I have not noticed any new or different vibrations. Definitely a worthwhile mod if you are having trouble shifting easily.

I think the shifts would have been better regardless.
I found stiffer mounts helped with shifting under hard braking.
That is preventing the transmission to be skewed as much.
Normal street driving, no significant change.
I'm surprised you are not feeling any noticeable vibration.
I did when I installed UUC's mounts.

320i mounts can also be used except that the hole needs to be drilled out slightly. That is probably where the idea came from.

I am also a bit surprised that there are no vibrations. The stock mounts are very easy to flex compared the the rogues which would lead you to believe that more vibrations would be transmitted. I went with the rogue mounts over the UUC ones because RE stated on their website that these mounts were designed with street use in mind. I will definitely get back under the car in a couple of weeks to make sure that everything is still tight.

hey thanks alot for the post, i might consider that as an idea to my problem. its not nearly as bad, but there is a problem once in awhile, so it might be something i look into.

How's the ride with the RE mounts? I'd like a stiffer mount, but can do without the added vibration that some stiffer mounts can cause.

I've had them on for a few weeks now and no new vibrations have developed. They are absolutely fine for daily driving. I am going to check tomorrow to make sure they are still torqued down.

Believe me, I can't stand added vibrations either and I researched a lot before getting these over the UUC ones. I'm not saying the UUC are bad at all, just that I read they cause vibrations.
