Default sensors in our car

how many sensors do we have in our cars? please list down the ones you know and what do they do.

recently, i have to change my crankshaft position sensor. this handles the firing sequence according to my research. thats why i was having a rough idle and a check engine. also, there was another error code that said, unknown. sheesh. the whining sound wasnt from the pully but rather from the power steering pump?

Power steering fluid gets to be like chocolate after awhile.
The reservoir has a built in filter.
The trombone looking hose tends to leak also.

yes it is, it usually means you're pump is bad or you're possibly low on fluid or something, make sure you use ATF if you fill it

Coolant temp sensor
There is also an engine temp sensor. One temp sensor gives an output to the gauge inside of the car, and the other sends the engine temperature to the DME.

no its not bad, as long as its a Dex 3.

there is Pentosin which some E34s need, or it all goes wrong

most of the newer BMWs (94 and upwards) use a Dextron 3 fluid

Yes. At the least flush the fluid. Get rid of any air bubbles.
I flushed the fluid and it still didn't fix it. Needed to replace the steering pump.

OT:

ok off topic. there was a whining sound on my engine before if you guys remember. so i took it to the shop. first they said it was the power steering pump doing the whining. so i had it rebuilt. but the whining sound was still there. the check engine code was for two errors. one for the cam position sensor and one unknown error. i had the cam sensor replaced but still the whining and tad rough idle. they suspected it was the ICV so they replaced it. but the sound was still there never changed.

so can anyone give me an idea? before it sucks up all my xmas funds lol? what else could it be. the sound is coming from the top of engine like in the intake thing. what else could cause the whining sound? oh and i had the pulleys checked. alternator, compressor and it wasnt those things.
