That reminds me... didn't Dinan have transmission software at some point or was that only for the E46? If not and you can manage I'd also go for the transmission swap. That might even make you think you got a new engine

the s62 swap is possible, but the motor mounts must be custom made and the left hand side must be made to accomodate the 2 oil lines for the oilfilter housing

i have a friend who has built his 1.8ti to an s52, and is now going for the s62 :P

its set to be one of the fastest compacts in europe ( they say ...)

has your friend priced everything out for the s62 swap? Also how much did it cost for the s52 swap? And lastly, does he plan on doing all of his own custom fabrication?

I agree.. no matter what.. you need to lose the autotranny.

I find it odd that nobody has been able to get above 176hp on the DASC. Grassroots motorsports did when they installed it on an M42

That engine was HUGE in there, I dont even wanna think about how much that would cost. But, it must be a blast to drive that beast.

Water pump pressure? Fuel pump pressure?
Makes no sense.

An auto to 5 spd swap would be pointless on that motor. The lack of torque you're feeling is the fact you have a 4 cylinder. Put in an s52 and you'll be very pleased trust me.
