I was pretty bummed about it. Started with 126k miles and absolutely love this little car. She had a 3 series in Germany and thought it was a good move on my part to pick one up. 1st change was the rims. Since the car is a fairly "base model" with few options, I lost the steelies and opted for a used set of bottle caps. They look okay and accept a bit wider rubber. We were BOTH tired of shifting, we do enough of that on our motorcycles, so I was lucky to find mine with an auto tranny. I remember complaints when the ti was first introduced. R&T and a couple of other rags diss'd it for lack of power. It did hurt sales and after a couple of years, they bumped some of them to the 6 cyl. Mine is the 4 cyl (obviously) and drives out the way I like. I don't see the lack of power unless they were referring to passing on a hill with the A/C on (duh). My speed freak days are over. I've slowed down a lot since approaching 50, but it's all good. I lurked for a month, searched a few times and always found what I was looking for on this forum. Found bf.c and never even bothered to check in. The atmosphere, knowledge-base and willingness to share on THIS (ti) forum is what I am accustomed to. I look forward to learning, sharing and getting to know more about my car and making some new friends along the way. The pics are how it started in its new home. Wifey had just returned from having it detailed for me. Ain't she SUPER? THX, azmotoman (Sybil, to some . . . don't let the name fool you) Last edited by azmotoman; 07-23-2009 at 02:33 PM. Your welcoming comments are appreciated. I agree whole-heartedly with your comments. Alpine white is a great color on ANY BMW. None of our bikes were white, but the ones I have seen are superb. The car was found through Craigslist at a local lot. I could see right away it would need a little TLC. Tires, service, a few plastic bits in the cabin. That is part of what led me to this forum. One of the rear speakers blew early and the A/C temp was good, but the air output volume seemed low. Thanks to some of the posts here, I was able to change the cabin filters and decide on the best option to look for in speakers. I'll be keeping it stock and haven't ridden a motorcycle in 2 months because of this little jewel. I don't regret the purchase at all. I have no doubt the 928, even as clean as it was, would have cost me a small fortune in maintenance and repairs . . . and the mileage, holy cow, I wasn't really expecting it be so economical! The original sticker was in the glove box along with the owner(s) manual. The sticker showed 22-26 city, 24-30 hiway. It does it, too. On top of all this, the original toolkit is still in the car, it was originally bought in AZ and looks to have stayed here all its life. No rust, no major dings, everything seemed to work well. | | | 07-25-2009, 02:55 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Avondale, Az Posts: 203 | Welcome to the forum. your car looks like my ti's twin sister except mine is all apart now. if you need any help or parts let me know since we're neighbors! I was glad to find this one. It IS clean and was apparently well kept. The few things it needed right away were: rear hatch seal, hatch and bonnet struts, tires, oil change, air filter, cabin filters, battery service, seat belt anchor covers and fuel filter/regulator (all done already). Just waiting for a rainy day to change the rear speakers and driver's door seal.(lol) | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
