Alright guy I'm a member of the military, married with a family just picked up my first BMW. I purchased a 1998 BMW 318TI with 189k has kind of a beat up body but it's spent some time in michigan and the motor runs pretty good I am taking it in to get a full check up tomorrow. My main question is the car currently has a motor with a air pump on it. Can I switch it out for a motor w/o a air pump. I have found a couple motors with out a air pump but none with. I just want to build up a fresh motor incase my fails ever. I am completely new to BMW's I have dealt with dodge, Chevy , ford, and Chrysler also with Boeing aircraft but this is a whole new game for me. Are there anyone on the east side of michigan that is good with BMWs that would like to teach a noobie on BMW

Welcome to the org Kyle
May I suggest building a 6-cylinder as a back-up? More power!
Sounds like you have found a few M42 motors and not M44. You currently have the M44 in your car.

Welcome! Where are you at in MI? I'm in Detroit, soon to be Ann Arbor. Just bought a 318ti myself and am new to this whole BMW world...
