Default Help! : Dual Vanos e36 swap ~ Wiring!

Hey everyone I have done some searching and I am not sure of the answer.

I have a m52tu from a 2000 323ci (e46) that I want to swap into my 318ti.

I know that the 323ci basically has the same tranny so it bolts right up, motor mounts bolt right up, so physical fitment is not a issue. Wiring is what I am worried about!

Goal is to have it completely stock swap(DME,intake, exhaust, harness etc) so that I can go and get it ref'd and legal.

Do I need to do something with the cluster to get it work?
Swap the whole wire harness with the stock DME and its plug and play ??

I am not to knowledgeable with wiring so I am not ever sure what I need to worry about. I just know that by 2000 its like OBDII + or something different then OBDII and dual vanos is different too.

Help! ~ I don't want to be doing the swap and get completely stumped!

Thanks.

Anyways I will update as i research and find out more.

If anyone has info please pass it on.

(Remember it needs to pass Emissions)

----------------------------------Update-------------------------------------

From what I can find... there doesn't seem to be much hope.

Best thread I have found:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=584570

Seems like the cost of modifying the wiring, tuning/removing EWS, for the DME, whether it is the MS42 or MS41.1 will cost so much it would negate the gain of getting a completely free 323ci donor. For the cost I should be able to find a scrap yard 328 with a M52 and do that swap.

If anyone has any other ideas let me know please!

Thanks.

New idea,

What if I used a cluster from a late model z3 - specifically the 2.3? It should be drop in for the e36 and also support the new fuctions of MS42.

Still needs a lot work but think that I need to make the swap happen for under 1k, and I was hoping to use some of that money for gaskets/cooling parts.

One day I want to do the m54 swap. Considered that cluster for the swap if needed.. But you can get around the EWS, just have to keep searching.

Quick update: my student aid got pulled so any thoughts of swapping the m52tu is permanently stopped.

=[

If I get back to trying a m54 or m52tu again I will definitely post up!
