Default I feel violated

How come every time I have the unfortunate experience of having to go to Sears Auto I leave feeling violated?

I just had 2 tires blow out by a piece of steel when going over a railroad crossing. Within a mile both tires were flat and coincidentally I found myself at the entrance of a Sears Auto Service Center. I have had bad feelings from getting my car inspected at Sears from back in Pa, they wouldn’t pass the car due to what they say that the front rotors were too thin but the rotors were less than 2 years old and they wanted $500 to put pads and rotors on the front. I didn’t have any choice because the car was overdue for inspection so I paid it.

I didn’t want to have them change my tires but “any port in a storm”. They had my tires in stock but I ended up having to pay $360 for two “Kuhmo 225/40/18 ASX” M&B. The thing is that the “Tire Rack” sells these tires for $89 a piece and I usually have to pay another $50 at the most to mount and balance 4.

I don’t mean to bad mouth because I realize I am one person who feels he was over charged twice now. That is a very small sample considering all the vehicles they service but has anybody else left Sears with a bad taste in their mouth?

Any walk-in establishment sells tires alot more than any online vendor, Sears especially. Nothing you can do about it.

I guess I should be thankful I got it taken care of on a Sunday, didn’t have to call a tow truck even though I have “AAA” and my tires were in stock. However I almost feel I should have tried bargaining with them. I didn’t even get road hazard for $360 on 2 tires.

Most tire places will match online prices. I get my Blizzaks from the local Firestone store for whatever Tirerack lists.

I remember walking out of a sears after being quoted over a hundred bucks for a battery for my fiat spider.

It is probably a good thing there is not much at sears that I am interested in buying for my car. Sucks you got the flats though, I just went through the same thing

discount tire matches online prices, also balances and rotates for free. the real kicker is that they will replace tires that are beyond repair... FOR FREE!

Yep, I've purchased 2 sets at Tirerack prices and I've sent MANY people to Firestone to do the same. It's a great deal since you don't have to pay shipping, just mounting and balancing (which is pretty cheap at Firestone).
