The engine has 140k miles on it and i am thinking about putting in a replacement. I was wondering if it is possible to put a e46 M3 engine into a e36? If not i have read on here that the Euro S50B30 and the Euro S50B32 are popular engine replacement. Money really isnt an issue. which engine would be the best replacement. Thanks Valg | I'm sure it's possible, since the e46 trannys work on the e36s... I'm not sure about the motor mounts. Someone on bimmerforums might be able to answer this better. You'll need to be creative to get EWS to work, or disable it. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 05-08-2007, 02:15 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Welcome! There is a Chicago member here (Alex?) who specialized in bringing over euro e36 M3 motors and 6 speed trannies. Then again if money is not an issue and you care not to get your hands dirty, there is none better than Brett Anderson at Koalamotorsports when it comes to engine swaps ( www.koalamotorsport.com). People send cars from all over the country there. Last week he had in a customers 750il that he had installed a race motor, 6 speed, Wildwood brakes, etc. He also mentioned he was installing e46 DSC (dynamic stability control) into an e36 M3 so he is familiar with going e46>e36. Or maybe you want to do the work yourself? __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 05-10-2007, 01:29 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: DoWNeY, CALiFORNiA Posts: 141 | Quote: Originally Posted by Valg Hey, guys i own a stock 1998 M3 e36. Thanks Valg | Dude, RMS gave a rough, and I do mean rough quote for that same swop at around 30k . He claim there stage 1 kit would put me at around 420hp. The price was based of the them getting the engine and tranny for me. Crazy.... but he felt very confident they could do it. The guys name was Bowe. | | | 05-11-2007, 01:58 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Cashville,TN Posts: 124 | You lose your heat from what I understand about doing the s54 into e36 chassis. But it fits the same. I dont even think you need different mounts. __________________ Mmm.. | | | 05-16-2007, 10:06 PM | #9 | Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: South Florida Posts: 36 | I would much prefer to do a Euro M3 engine swap which has the same HP as the E46 M3 engine and it would bolt right in with the harness and everything. The S54 would be way too much trouble dude but it can be done. __________________ 92 318I : Cosmo CAI . Custom cat back exhaust . Fan delete mod . 80 stat . Home made wieghted shifter rod . With the e46 you will have to deal with the hassle of the wiring. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
