 New Engine Needed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my engine more a less blew up, i was travelling back form my uncles and bang, there it went, no warning, nothing, My local mechanic( whos well good) says its fu..ed. my car has always ran excellent, been well looked after so on and recently serviced, he reckons there was something in the engine, a bit of metal maybe rattling about and has damaged all the pistons and valves, dont know how this could of happened and just came out of nowhere, he basically said a need a new engine, a new engine seems horrifying to me as i liked my own engine and dont want to put in someone elses engine which could not even be as good, rougher, done more miles etc, my old engine had done about 105000 an sounded good, where could i pick a good engine up from? its a 98ti sport european spec. what other engines would fit? 3 series 318? would it have to be modified? i dont really want to modify my car id like something the same as what was there. any help would be appreciated as i havent a clue where to satrt looking, im based in the u.k(scotland). thanks billy |
